Looking for love songs sung from the perspective of the opposite sex. Let me explain: The White Stripes covering Jolene by Dolly Parton. Get it? Song was written by a women sung about a man, but Jack White does an awesome version. I know there is at least one more out there. Give it a shot.
many men have sung my favorite song "House of the Rising Sun" which is supposed to be from a womans perspective.
they sometimes even change change the words to sing it from a male perspective "It's been the ruin of many a poor girl" to "It's been the ruin of many a poor boy" etc...
I have a lot of songs originally sung by a woman, covered by a man and vice versa. But specifically love songs? That's a little more difficult. Here's what a quick glance at my Covers folder shows.
Emery - Holding Out for a Hero (Bonnie Tyler)
Showoff - Borderline (Madonna)
Skin of Tears - Love is a Battlefield (Pat Benetar)
Rufio - Like a Prayer (Madonna)
Also check out the "Punk Goes Pop" album and Less than Jake's "Greased" EP where they do songs from Grease like Hopelessly Devoted, etc.

Also, the original line up of The Sisters Of Mercy covered Jolene. Haven't heard it in a long long time, but I used to think it was the dogs bollocks (great)
