after pouring out his soul to have it ripped to shreds, he follows up with an album of pop songs with completely unintelligible, meaningless lyrics.
I liked weezer once upon a time, but i have NEVER heard a weezer song that sounded "soulful". they did a mary kate & ashley movie themesong, for the love of god. their first big hit was about tearing up a fucking sweater.
I gotta tell you, all this Pinkerton love is a little sickening.
Don't get me wrong, it's a classic record, and is Weezer's best. But to want them to break up because they'll never make a better album, or to wish they'd just make Pinkerton II is a little childish and sad, IMO.
I'm looking forward to hearing this new album. I've never disliked anything Weezer have released, and I love Rivers' style of writing.
The Blue Album and Pinkerton are 2 of my all-time favorite records. Asking them to top those records is like asking Motley Crue to suddenly write a collection of songs more bad ass than Shout At The Devil. Unlikely. All we can do is hope for the best!
