NME reports that pseudo-neo-post-punk band Editors were playing a run of the mill gig in Cologne, Germany a few days ago when armed policemen entered the venue and forced them to leave the stage in the middle of their encore. Thankfully no one was killed.

According to the Editors boys, the reason given for the rock-us interruptus was that the band was "being excessively loud." One has to wonder, though, if there might have been a mistranslation, and the coppers meant to say "sucking excessively hard". Really makes you wonder.

Editors return with their sophomore LP An End Has a Start on June 25 in the UK and Europe, and July 17 in the States. Check out their bombastically wanky new video:

Aaron_Lariviere understands that if you are a fan of Coldplay or highly-derivative bands that ape their style there's a decent chance you liked the above video. His thoughts and prayers are with you, and he means no serious offense.

No offense taken. Not one of their best songs, but be open minded and give their first album (The Back Room) a chance. It's pretty damned good and not Coldplayish at all. And they put on a pretty tight live show as well. But whatever. To each his/her own. The article made me laugh. tongue

Heh, pretty bombastically wanky indeed.

I've heard a lot worse, though. I prefer this to most stuff I hear on the radio, but that's not much of a compliment.

i like these guys (their last cd anyway), and i think they put on a great show. i'd say they have more in common with interpol than coldplay, FTR.

glad no one was hurt in the incident.

that's the first time i heard it. being a fan, yeah, i wasn't too impressed with it myself, so i can only imagine what others will think of it.

hopefully it's a grower.

I liked their single from their first album, Munich, though I never got around to buying that album. This new song sucks! Maybe it's just the power of suggestion, but the first thing I thought was, "Coldplay" and then I clicked the stop button.

You want it to get bigger as it becomes more sexually aroused?

They have done two good songs in the past, believe it or not, but yes, that was drivel and the police had every right to take action. Lock 'em up!

I always think Chris Martin sounds like Kermit the Frog. I dont think the singer of The Editors sounds like Kermit the Frog. That said, I do like this song.
