Jonathan Davis of Korn is not the only rocker branching out into other modes of musical expression. Head Gorilla, Damon Albarn, has scored a show called Monkey: Journey To The West; a Cirque du Soleil-style project to run in Manchester, Paris and Berlin this summer.

The show features over 40 Chinese acrobats, Chinese vocalists and performing martial artists as well as work from Gorillaz visual artist Jamie Hewlett. Based on ancient Chinese folklore, Monkey runs through the fall, however there are currently no plans for the show to land on North American shores.

If you're intrigued and in one of the three cities hosting Monkey you can find showtimes and venue details at the event's Myspace page. To further explain the production, here are Albarn and Hewlett themselves.
