i have a better idea. instead of just listing your 5 favorite albums here, also put them in a little box and mail them to me. that way i'll actually be able to listen to them instead of just knowing their names.

Way to hard to do I'm sure I'll forget a really great one, but I'll give it a try.

1) The Beatles - White album
2) Everclear - Sparkel and Fade
3) Ani Difranco - Living in clip
4) Goldfinger - Hang ups
5) Less Than Jake - Lossing Streak

Ok, so these are just 5 really good albums most likely not the best, just some of my favorites.

whittling a list down to five albums is absurd but therapeutic.
with a list of ten you feel like you can simply throw out some random
albums and say well that's what they are this week.
but with a list of five you get a sense that these are albums that
matter and may never leave your collection, albums that may not be
everyone's favorites but that's why they're yours.

these are not in any order because they generally represent moods and
memories of times that i cherish.

you can probably tell by the list that i'm getting old.

def leppard - high n' dry
the church - remote luxury
aztec camera - high land hard rain
cheap trick - dream police
inxs - the swing

honorable mention
mark kozelek - what's next to the moon

top 5 that i could never get rid of:
1. pink floyd - dark side of the moon
2. faith no more - angel dust
3. alice in chains - jar of flies
4. medicine - the buried life
5. fear factory - demanufacture

today:
1. stretch arm strong - a revolution transmission
2. killswitch engage - alive or just breathing?
3. cave in - 2 song EP
4. darkest hour - so sedated, so secure
5. poison the well - tear from the red (i don't care what you people say, this is 10 times better than december. the heavy parts are heavier, the melodic parts are better. you people are crazy. crazy i say.)

Oh ... see, I thought you were saying there were no "Greatest Hits" because all The Smiths hits sucked. wink

I'm just kidding, just kidding ... it's Morrissey who sucks. Johnny Marr *is* the Smiths.

They Might Be Giants - Flood
Art Of Noise - "daft"
Tori Amos - Under the Pink
garbage - garbage
Fugees - The Score

But trying to pick Top 5 albums of any kind is soooo hard. There are about 20 albums that just barely didn't make the list above, and I deliberately avoided compilations and "Best Of" albums. I mean, I've got no Beatles there! No Simpsons! No jazz or classical at all! It's not really meaningful.
