i think the fact that nothing can live up to the original song by RDJ made the attempt to cover come to daddy just seem weak and pointless, yes.

It's remarkable how split people are on their preferences here. Kinda neat. As for me.

I never got into Fantomas first album, but the Director's Cut rocks my world. I love every single Bungle album as a seperate beautiful child, and i can only hang with some of Faith No More's work...and yes...i love Epic.

Never heard Tomahawk, want to. Heard bits and pieces of his solo vocal work and really like it. And am i the only one whose heard Bungle's covers of "Like A Prayer" and "The Legend of Zelda".

That shit rocks my tittys yo.

i'd go with the self titled because quote unqoute is one of the greatest songs of all time (even though disco volante has everyone i went to highschool with is dead)

and actually, the best mike patton side project is mike patton and the dillinger escape plan's ep... fanotmas, mr. bungle, tomahawk, moonraker, ect. all has to bow down to the almighty power of the dillingers.

I like pretty much everything Patton is envolved in. California is my favorite Bungle album as it seems to be the most balanced. DV was way out there and the first was super butt rocked out. That being said I love both of them. King for a day is probably my favorite FNM album but its a tough call since I love all of them so much.

Lovage was a special treat since I've been a big fan of Dan the Automator and am a sucker for girls with sexy singing voices. I'm stoked to see what Peeping Tom will be all about.

Some of my favorite covers over the years have been Ford Mustang, Vision of Love, and Dirty Movies.

my patton favorites

FNM: King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime
Fantomas: Fantomas
Mr. Bungle: Mr. Bungle
Tomahawk: Mit Gas

I also recommend Lovage and DEP featuring patton.

big fat word to edea re ANGEL DUST
that album is the shit. listen to track 3 (i think) the dreamy one about some trailer trash guy who swings a shower curtain. then listen to the underwater song in super mario brothers. really really similar melodies there.

my personal fav is disco volante. it's so epic and dense

a friend of mine met willy winant (i think that's his name .. he is the percussionist for bungle) and asked if bungle were going to ever record another album. winant just laughed in his face. so that is sad.

my pick would be faith no more.
if there wasnt any FNM there would be no KORNS, limp bizkits or any of these rap/metal bands.
mike is a very talented dude,

funny fact: i dated his first cousin here in portland for like 5 months. she was very hot in fact the whole reason I dated her was because he was her cousin (and super hot) and I always figured if i was around long enough I could shop my demo to him or try to drum for him ! LOL needless to say it never happend and when she found out about this .... she dumped me! HA HA

TRU DAT, CRACKA! Oh, and Tomahawk rocks. Bungle was instant attraction, but Lovage and Tomahawk take two listenings, then they attach themselves to your spine and can never be removed.
What a great thread. He is one of the most under appreciated artists of our time.

My fav Bungle record is Disco Volante...changed the way I heard music when it came out. I had liked the first but thought it a bit immature at times. They think so too. California is amazing too.

My fav Patton project is the D.E.P. thing Irony Is A Dead Scene. Fucking brilliant!

Whomever posted about Naked City is right...An amazing band while they lasted. Another Zorn project that has steam again is Masada. Dunn fans.....He's in it again!

my favorite mr bungle album is disco volante because it embodies everything that bungle was about-playing every musical style that those guys are fans of. i can't think of another record that covers so many different styles of music and flows together so well. plus.. chemical marraige is one of the coolest songs ever. i love california and the s/t as well, but disco volante will have a special place in my heart.
fantomas is my 2nd favorite patton project along with the dep record. the fantomas records are way better than the tomahawk records imo. they just didn't blow me away like i thought they would, considering who's in the band. i dig the lovage stuff though (especially anger management).
as far as faith no more...i love angel dust and king for a day (patton was just insane on those tours), and most of the real thing. i thought album of the year kinda sucked, which is sad considering it was their last album. at least bungle went out on a high note.
by the way...if you haven't heard bungle doing 24,000 baci, try to find it. it's an old italian song by a guy named adriano celentano that they've played live for years. incredible song.

Tomahawk and Dillenger are in my opinion some of his best work... however, that being said, all of his work was great...

I saw Fantomas last year in Toronto.
They played with
-Trevor Dunn's Trio of Convulsions (Trevor- bassist; fantomas, mr bungle). They are an acid jazz trio, trevor plays stand up and its really awesome.

-Locust: Ummm trash metal, screaming, obscure sounds... dressed up as giant bug people? Was easily the most horrible or brilliant thing I've ever seen, still not sure to this day.

Fantomas- Played the stuff off their newest album for the most part, which was mostly really quick tracks, hard to keep up with. AMAZING AND BANG ON LIVE.
