I put this thread on here because I've noticed that alot of the music threads revolve around specific new bands that people have discovered, and I thought for issues of economy I would post a thread devoted to new bands. I heard a great new band called the Ravonettes; they recorded and entire album in B minor; it's now the usual fare that I listen to, but it's a great film-noir rock-band from NY. Check out the web site @ www.theravonettes.com

If I didn't have exams coming up I'd get out to Streetsville...I've seen PaP a couple times now and they are fucking awesome live. We'll see how much work I can get done tomorrow and maybe I'll try to get out there tomorrow night, that would rule.

Sorry About Dresden... not exactly new, 3 full lengths under their belts, but they're just getting upwardly mobile. They're from Chapel Hill NC and they're co-fronted by the brother of that punk Bright Eyes kid.

The Detatchment Kit... not alot to say, jsut listen to 'em. they're on tour with My Morning Jacket.

Pretty girls Make Graves... great band in which everyone sings. Female fronted but they have just as many male lead songs thanks to having several strong voiced males in the band to back up Andrea.

Uh yeah... I coulda probably came up with some obscure ass bands, but I figured I'd give you something you can actually find at your local [Non-Chain] record store.

hmm... i don't doubt that these bands are great and all...

they're just not something that blows me away

i think the last cool band i heard recently was division of laura lee... and they released something in 2002...

this whole new "disco punk" stuff is pretty dull to me... it'd be nice if it actually sounded punky, or even discoish... but it really just sounds like regular dance music to me...

why did industrial ever have to fizzle away? why oh why can't there be a good new industrial band on the scene?
