Whoa. I'm SO glad that none of the SGs I like have been involved in this imbroglio. Hendrix? Agh! Talk about nonsensical meanderings on guitar! What a bunch of garbage! I tried to listen to Hendirix recently, and, even though I was drunk, I couldn't get into it. Fucking garbage! Dave M. reminds me of too many "cool" fratboys. Daterape, inc. Plus, it's bad songwriting and bad music. Why does this thread even exist? Dave M. should be washing dishes (if he's lucky) or arranging file folders somewhere. His music is absoluteley soulless. And that would be ok, if he didn't try to make it other than soulless honky music. But he is one of thoseassholes who is proud that black musicians play wiith him. He's canadian, too. Fuck him.

Ok the only thing i'm going to reply to in this whole drunken post is:

he is not canadian. he plays with black musicians because he grew up in south africa.

and what's wrong with canadians anyway?

Amen. As long as they have any sort of commercial influence, they should try to make it mean somethihng, I guess. I should probably listen to the more closely, but MY GOD THEY ARE AWFUL. I like alot of stuff, but... they don't even deserve a mention by name. Utter crap. Sorry Elise, though I'm not really sorry, even though you pose nude on a reallly cool, irreplaceable site. The band absolutely stinks, and there is no justification for liking them, unless you are absolutely insane.

Oh, "Ca-na-di-ans" manage to be north american without any of the guilt. I've been encouraged by professors to pretend that I'm candadian when I go to, for example, Russia. That should be enough. They are no worse than USers, though they aren't much better, and they pretend to be so. It's just funny. I could be a cock-to-the-wind USer, or I could be an humble canadian. So I go south, and accept all of the nonsense about north americans, and don't try to pussyfoot around all of the guilt. Got it?

Dave Mathews Band perfectly illustrates the fact that extremely proficient musicians are quite capable of making music that bores the hell out of me. To site another instance, Joe Satriani is a really good guitar player... I mean he's good at playing all the notes he intends to play and quickly to boot but I'd still rather listen to a tool box falling down a flight of stairs that to one of his albums.

I'm not alone! I have been hiding my love for DMB on here for months. It's been hard, but now I am freeeeeeeeee!

I used to hate them. I thought their music was boring. Never did much for me. One of my good friends was really into them and talked me into going to a concert. She ended up moving away last minute before the concert. So I was left with three tickets to a band I had no interest in seeing. I got two friends and went to the Gorge *which is by far one of the most amazing places to see them* After that night I have been hooked like it was crack.

I have now seen Dave solo twice. DMB five times at the Gorge and I will be going to my 6th and 7th DMB shows this summer. I am also planning on following them around the west coast on of these years.

There is so many things Dave and I have in common. We both have the same birthday. We both live in Seattle *well he does half the time* His wifes name is Ashley, my name is Ashley. I got to pick out stuff for his daughters when a person from house of blues came out to my old work and needed help. Both of us have family in Virginia. Okay I am crazy I know. I'll stop now.

But I am no longer in shame to express my love for DMB on this site. Thank you Elise for starting this thread!

*And to the dumb fuck who said he was Canadian, he's not, he's from South Africa*

*Lame namedropping alert*

I almost took some runs (apparently) with Stefan Lessard when he was snowboarding at Okemo VT a couple years back. He was recording some liners for their radio spots and some of my work crew was there, including the freelance guy who works for us who recorded him. He finished his stuff before we got there so we missed him, and it never was to be.

*Namedropping alert off*

Anyway, never liked DMB that much, but I think it's Dave himself that rubs me the wrong way, and not the rest of the group. I might have enjoyed them more had they come around 30 years ago. The recording technology of those days might have been a better fit for the type of music they play, but I guess I'm just pissing in the wind, aren't I.

they are absofuckinglutly brilliant. dave has more soul than most anyone in the market and carter is one of the most powerfull percussive talents on the planet. also that tim renolds guy dave cut a live acoustic album with is fucking insane. that album shows the extent of what two people with acoustic guitars can do.

I thoroughly enjoy Dave Matthews Band. I think the pinnacle of their talent was the Crash album...and the subsequent albums have seemed, to me at least, like filler for a single or two...but I still love them.

Dave Matthews Band reminds me of being in college and I'm always in a good mood when I hear them.

I love DMB, and I am always trying to show my husband what tallented musicians they all are, and that a lot of their music is important to my past, but he resists my efforts and continues to make fun of me for enjoying their music. heh.
