Band relocation - Cali music scene?

Thanks to regular shows and to the exposure we've gotten from being on a couple SG videos, my band has saved enough money to consider relocating to a place with a stronger music scene. We are very much looking at Cali, most likely Orange County. If anyone is from there or knows anything about the band/show scene, we'd value your input. Also maybe a rough idea of housing costs would help. I hear its really expensive compared to here in WA so we are trying to figure out if we'd even be able to survive down there. Thanks to any and all for thier input.

I wouldnt' exactly chose Orange County, but that's just me. I say Bay Area!

if you like to play really accesible pop punk/nu emo oc is the place to be. the cost of housing varies greatly depending on where in oc you decide to live. i dont suggest moving there (i left as soon as i could) but instead going to la. there are venues in oc to play music, ie koos cafe, chain reaction, the doll hut, aaa electra. there are much more options for venues in la. i guess you could commute to san diego, riverside, and la quite easily from oc but that is its only selling point. good luck.
