i saw tav falco about 10 years ago. i think he was playing at the bottom of the hill....anyway, our friends and i had never heard of tav, but we saw the name 'falco' and thought we were gonna rock out to some der komissar. one friend even called the venue to make sure that it was the SAME falco that did der komissar and vienna calling. the woman on the other end of the phone assured us that it was.
boy, were we suprised
not that tav falco isn't great; i just think that experience of expecting an 80's german new wave star and getting 90's rockabilly sort of prevented me from ever appreciating tav falco in the fullest.

hey I'm not trying to be a cock at all but Tav put his first album out in 81...
Right on the money, DJD. I caught Tav Falco and the Panther Burns in DC in '88. Amazing, killer players, and a blast. I first heard him when on the compilation "Rock'a'billy Pschosis: the Garage Disease" when I was in high school
