Who do you secretly like listening to, but feel (for whatever reason) that you shouldn't really go round telling everybody that you do?

For me it's Avril Lavigne and Britney Spears...

I'm new here, but I understand that Avril Lavigne is particularly popular in the SG community.

I am proud of all the music I listen to, I am a big music nerd that way. Although one guilty secret of mine is that I saw brittney spears in concert with backstage passes....now honestly, that was pretty cool.

I get some odd looks when I pull out Leonard Cohen, Nina Simone, or Peggy Lee.

But I keep the fact that I am really into T.A.T.U. on the down-low.

Okay, okay...Stevie Knicks. My mother adored Fleetwood Mac, and especially as I got older I began to apreciate the power in that woman's voice. I guess I'm a closet hippie who likes to wear black *shutter*

Seal is my musical sin i think. its hard to take musical high ground on folks as listen to Yanni and Jon Tesh when I listen to Seal. Prepackaged sterile music. but i guess to a degree unless all you listen to is hardcore underground punk and rap its all pretty hard to not become a part of the musical mainstream. besides the fact that if all you listen to is metal or classical or jazz you dont get very evolved musical tastes.

good music is subjective. whoa rant sorry - null

I'm probably going to get a lot of shit for this, but does anyone remember John Secada? I used to dig his music a LOT in like 1994, 95.

But I'll also admit that I like listening to Britney and Avril sometimes because it doesn't make me emotional like my usual angry stuff or bawling emo. blackeyed

Fatboy slim. The strokes.

and when they come on mtv, I always watch videos by britany, christana, and any video I haven't seen before, especially bling bling hip hop videos. And I actually really like kelley osbornes "shut up" song. oh yeah, and the justin timberlake solo stuff. I love walking around singing "cry me a river" in that whiny michael jackson voice...

Michelle Branch. It's kinda cutesy pop. But at least she plays an instrument and writes her material.

The other is Rush. and man, do I take a lot of shit for that one, from anyone who wasn't in Marching Band back in high school

Anything from DDR. (damn it, it just doesn't fit with most of my music, but it's too catchy to avoid. I'm just glad I stay way away from any arcades where that game is...)

I caught myself dancing to that Justin Timberlake song the other day.

and I like Avril too. I wish she'd been around when I was 16. In fact, I think I like most of what people have named on here. Especially Neil Diamond. I love Neil Diamond. It's all my mother's fault.

(if that makes me uncool, I am listening to Television right now. wink )

There should be no shame in liking Neil Diamond.
I just had me a wee Alice Cooper marathon. That's mildly embarassing.
And I'm starting to get into some of the bad Mexican danced music we always listen to at work...
