I'm lost
OLD SKOOL

FEB 22, 2003 09:33 PM

Before anyone goes off on me about how they are just another bunch of "old guys still trying to rock" let me just remind you that this is one of the bands that influenced an ASSLOAD of the bands that are playing on the radio right this minute. I admit that I haven't been into the later stuff, but anything before that whole "She's Tight" fiasco blew the fucking roof off.

I just want to see how many true longtime CT fans there are out there. I've been hardcore for them since I was 12.

Yeah! Cheap Trick is fantastic... they're actually friends of the family (well, Rick and Mike are; Robin and Bud aren't too personable, imo). I've seen them several times and hope they stick around - they have a damn fine show.

Cheap Trick - and who cares who warmed up for them.

My friend and I got a white twin sheet and wrote the words Cheap Trick intheir typeface font in black permanent marker 537 times. It looked like a huge piece of paper with typewritten wods all over it. We tossed it up onto the stage from the front row and Rick wrapped himself up in that fucking thing and played his ass off through the last half of "Need Your Love".

Fuckin' A.

mad About 7 or 8 years ago they were playing a show in Detroit and some radio station was sponsoring it so tickets were only $0.96 or something like that. I wanted to go so badly. However, my Mom dragged me to the wedding of one of my sister's friends instead. How fucking sad is that. Instead of going to see Cheap Trick rock out for under a buck I had to go to the wedding of someone who I wasn't related to or even friends with. But that's ok, I'm over it, I'm not bitter anymore..... mad mad mad mad mad

CT, in many ways set the bar very high for musicians. Bun E, Carlos was one drummer who had a great influence on my playing among many others...

People who get hung up on age in relation to a persons ability to rock are majorly fucked...

I am 47, I play in a punk pop three piece with two 20 something year olds and kick major ass. We do Surrender as a cover.

CT ROCK!!!

I saw them as part of a washed-up band summer concert series last year. They were OK, but I had to leave during their encore when they played some song (I couldn't tell you which) for the second time that night.

I saw CT do 3 nights in a row in LA where they played their first 3 albums in FULL! I think they said that over 3 nights they only played the same song 2 times.

REALLY good.

They were the first band I latched onto where I wasn't actually influenced by an older relative who liked them - I was about 13 I think. Everything Works If You Let It was being played quite a bit on the radio and is still one of my favorites.
