Thin Lizzy's "Live and Dangerous" is where it's at! Slayer's Decade Of Aggression is up high, too.

By far my favorite is NoMeansNo's Live and Cuddly. Good recording(s), the band in Europe (their best crowds) at the absolute peak of their career. Utterly fucking amazing.

And yeah, I've got a soft spot for The Song Remains the Same. blush

THE DAMNED - Live in Newcastle.

I'm no expert but I'd put money on it not being overdubbed, for starters it sounds like its recorded in mono - on a Walkman.

LP begins with the smashing of several glasses as they hit the equipment onstage, Captain Sensible shouts:

'RIGHT! the next fucker that throws a glass stops us playing and we're walking off. So if you see anyone throwing glasses, you stop 'em..'

and goes downhill from there. It's great.

neat thread, I'm glad it got bumped. The first one that came to mind was Night of the Living Dead Boys just because it's way better than any of their studio albums. On the other end of the spectrum I really love Thelonious Monk Alone in San Francisco. There's lots of others already mentioned I agree with, but I didn't see these two.

i too am glad this was bumped (reminds me of many favorites have been mentioned, especially Live After Death & Delicate Sound of Thunder, amongst others.)...

two live ones I've always dug are Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Live Alive", especially Voodoo Chile & Superstition, and Neil Young & Crazy Horse's "Weld". I think those two recordings do a bit of justice to the tone those two wrenched out of their gear.

7. Led Zeppelin - DVD Set
8. Emerson, Lake, and Palmer - Welcome Back My Friends to the Show that Never Ends

10. Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same

If we can include bootlegs, then...
1. Led Zeppelin - Snow Jobs - March 19, 1975

I'm partial to Portishead's Roseland NYC Live. A few tracks are much better than their studio versions, most notably "Sour Times".
