Whether or not Coldplay is still a band has been the subject of press for months now. Good for Coldplay; when you don't have new songs, tell the world you're done, as it ironically keeps everyone interested. When that's no longer fun, get back to writing songs and make an album...with Brian Eno.
According to an interview that ran on BBC Radio 4, Eno's been tapped to produce the next Coldplay album. According to Eno, the new record "will be very original and very different from what they've done before." Chances are it will still be music tailor-made for browsing Barnes & Nobles while you sip your Venti Non-fat Latte.
No word on progress, release date or title but, rest assured, you will be inundated with information soon enough. If you're interested in hearing what else Mr. Eno chatted about, you can check out the interview here.
Eno is the FUCKING MAN. As far as I'm concerned, this is like Coldplay announcing that everyone in the world will receive a free blowjob. Even women. Women will be given a penis in order to enjoy the Coldplay blowjob.

this could very well be what brian eno and coldplay have in store for us...
but what would the tour name be given it sticks with the idea of blowjobs?
it could very well blow my mind.

Then he can make Coldplay *really* sound like U2.
Thanks for posting in a Brian Eno thread when you clearly have no idea who he is.
...Though I may not agree with the dude, you are aware that Eno produced "The Unforgettable Fire", "The Joshua Tree", "Achtung Baby", "Zooropa" and "All That You Can't Leave Behind", aren't you?

I was aware of all but the last one.
he also produced and basically called all the shots on the little-known U2 side project Passengers/Original Soundtracks Volume 1, which has some incredible ambient-esque stuff on it.
And while there may be similarities, Coldplay will never sound like U2.

You are all stupid. Brian Eno has his own glasses through which he views the world. Prepare for a viewpoint shift.
I love Brian Eno, even more than Coldplay, but I have to go with Stott on this one. For example, U2 completely changed after Joshua Tree, not that I like them much. And I have to say that Brian Eno's best years are far behind him, heard any of his recent electronic works?

That's true, because U2 actually had a perspective to share when they started making music. Coldplay, on the other hand, writes pop songs. So you're right. Now let's just say "watered-down U2" for the sake of argument.

How does a reference to Eno producing U2 give you the idea that he doesn't know who Eno is?
It just sounds like a real "Duhr, I remember seeing his name on those album covers" comment. Even not counting Eno's projects, he's produced bands with absolutely no relation to U2. Even if it's an "ultra-clever internet fakepost," it wasn't funny.

y'know, it's a lot easier being a troll when you can at least admit you're wrong when someone calls you out.

I'd acknowledge the fact if I thought I was wrong. When you're listening to Remain in Light when reading some anti-think, knee-jerk "Brian Eno = U2" post, some red flags are going to pop up.
