U2 the band has it's moments.

Bono has his moments.

Bono should however go bother the Irish government and leave mine alone.

How much money does Ireland send to Africa?

Also I did not as we all could have suspected enjoy his little New Orleans claptrap with Green Day.

Their video did an awesome job showing what would happen if the United States Armed Forces shirked their responsibilities all over the world to come and save New Orleans! As if they could somehow do all of the stuff in that splendid and pointless video at the drop of a hat.

How much money and foreign aid did Ireland send to New Orleans I wonder?

He deserves this. If only he were a British national, then it'd be even more awesome.

Of course, Knighthoods are being thrown about for every little thing these days, so what the hell.

all right, first off, leave the fucking music out of it.

Now, show that he is arrogant without using music or his sunglasses or anything like that. Attack the man and not his music.

You brought his ethnicity into it. What have you got against us Micks/Paddies again?

His music is what he's famous for. War was pretty good, the stuff after that considerably less so.

The queen should have done this before he skied into the tree. And included Cher as well.

I mean, he wote both "I Got You Babe" as well as "A Cowboy's Job is Never Done."

Yes....and after he shuts up...he can take back the millions, if not BILLIONS of dollars he has helped to raise. whatever

Are you kidding me with this shit?! This is not like your favorite indie band signing to a major label & changing their sound to sell mroe records, got it? How do you think the money gets raised....by passing the hat outside the local college dorm? By people sending in money on a whim?

Do you think that maybe somebody with celebirty draw...like Bono, perhaps...can use their platform to raise a shit-ton of money for humanitarian aid?

Nah.....better to keep it real, yo.....right?

You know...even Bono knows he's an over-exposed ego-maniac. He's referenced it several times in public while taking the piss out of himself. It's not like he rubber-stamped his image on some fly-by-night bandwagon cause....he's put in the work.

The fact that he can poke fun at himself overrides, in my mind, the fact that he can be a little too much.

I'm not against what he does. My issue is the fact he thinks he's so damn great. That was my point in the first place.

And I don't appreciate you generalizing about indie bands because mine did and I don't have a problem with it.

Just because you disagree doesn't mean you have to be rude.

And how much money have you fucking raised for charity this year? It might have escaped your notice but sadly, in this world of burgers, tv & guns, most people don't actually remember that people are starving or suffering unless someone shoves it in their face. Good on Bono for using his celebrity to good effect. What would you know, living in a shithole country that tore up the Kyoto agreement and sees the rebuilding of Iraq as a commercial business dream rather than a way of saying "sorry we destroyed your country and lives for no good reason".

Dumb fucker...

How much money have you? I donate money every month. I'm even dedicating my fucking career to this kind of stuff, so don't think you know me.

Yes, good for him. But he can shut his trap about how damn awesome he is.

Sorry for calling you a dumb fuck by the way, I shouldn't go near a keyboard when in a bad mood (write it a hundred times)...

I donate whenever I come across something that pulls the heartstrings, generally. Stuff like cancer research and children's charities as it happens.

At no point in my life, by the way, have I EVER once heard Bono say how great he was. In fact, he even created the FLY and MEPHISTO characters to take the piss out of the pigeonhole that people like you had put him in whilst on the ZooTV tour. There is nothing sadder than someone with a "more indie than you" attitude towards everything. If you don't like U2's music that's cool, personally I'd like to see a plane land on Nickelback, but if Chad Kroeger donated millions to charity, raised millions for charity and made the generally unaware masses of consumers aware of various issues in this world then I would take my hat off to him and be the first in line to congratulate him.

^^ well put. I agree

I like Bono as a personality and respect him, Though I'm not a big U2 fan.

Also, Please, run Nickelback over with a plane, and destroy every copy of all their material so that I never have to them again.

It's not so much the "indier than thou" thing, because I don't care about that. I did like Bono at one time, it's simply that he, like most celebrities, has an ego. And I dont like that.

I commend his action, but not his disposition.
