With a handful of catchy, politically oriented punk records behind them, Sweden's (International) Noise Conspiracy are gearing up to offer the world something a little different; a live jazz record. If you were to trace the Conspiracy's lineage back to influential 90s hardcore oufit Refused, you can easily find an enthusiastic interest in early 1960's jazz records in both bands' aesthetic and presentation. In that sense, this record will come as no surprise to long-time fans.
The album, Live At Oslo Jazz Festival, is self explanatory and features (I)NC collaborating with Swedish saxophonist and composer Jonas Kullhammar as well as pianist Sven-Erik Dahlberg, who has worked with the Conspiracy on previous recordings.
Although the record is already available via Sweden's independent jazz imprint Moserobie, Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles will be handling the release on these shores. Jello seems pumped to unleash it on stateside (I)NC fans.
My first reaction to (International) Noise Conspiracy was, 'Aha, the missing link between Chumbawamba and the Hellacopters!' It's cool how they set themselves up so they can expand in any number of directions at once. Don't be put off by the jazz reference here.
Sure, it's smoother, and yes, jazzier than other I.N.C. releases, but in such a way that most I.N.C. fans will really dig it. It's another essential piece of the puzzle.
Look for Live At Oslo Jazz Festival in stores on March 13.
Hmmm will have to look into that might be neat...it will be interesting to see how all there energy, and the style of there sets will transfer to a jazz line up...
Wow, it sounds interesting. I saw these guys in concert for the first time last year and they blew me away with their raw energy - it will be interesting to see how this transfers into a more jazz-like sound!

Dennis Lyxen is about the only person in the entire punk world with enough balls to pull off something like this. He's basically the new Joe Strummer.
There's not many people that could live up to a remark like "the new Joe Strummer" but if anyone can, it's Dennis. The multitude of directions this guy steers boggles the mind but everything falls together seamlessly. Love Refused, love Lost Patrol, and love T(I)NC. I'll gladly pick up anything this guy puts his mind to, cause he hasn't failed me yet!
I was actually at that show. I've seen INC four or five times, and this is definatly my favorite time! I think everyone in the band were very excited about playing with those jazz guys.
