#8 on the blender list of 50

THE AGE OF 27

"For most of us, the Bermuda Triangle of morbidity lies between the ages of 50 and 53, after which, if you dodge cancer, heart disease and other bullets, you'll probably live for decades. For rock stars, the year to fear is 27 -- the checkout date for JANIS JOPLIN, JIMI HENDRIX, JIM MORRISON, KURT COBAIN, BRIAN JONES and blues legend ROBERT JOHNSON among others.

Honorable mentions to NICK DRAKE (at a wizened 26) and TIM BUCKLEY (at a boyish 28) -- who were, after all, eccentric. "

November 3rd, 2006: My uncle forms a Three Dog Night "tribute" band, grows a bitchen mullet, buys marvelous technicolor dream-pants, and goes live on East LA public access channel.

Seriously, is there any reason at all for "Three Dog Night" and "tribute band" to exist in the same sentence? Won't the real Three Dog Night play bar mitzvahs and retirement parties for, like, fifty bucks and a six-pack?

See, it's a little bit music and a little bit personal, which makes the history extra special! ooo aaa

I only have two questions for Dictionary_Girl

1) Which one is your dad?

2) Will you marry me so that this band can play the wedding?

1.) My dad is the one on the couch with my mom and me, watching Thee Mr. Duran Show! in a state of shock and awe. My mom's little brother, however, is the tall one lead-singing very dramatically.

2.) Hell yes.

I haven't got the foggiest idea what they sound like, but they were called Fourmyula, and they were apparently the kind of band Austin Powers would have grooved to had he been in New Zealand instead of Swinging London.

MANOWAR
None more metal. None more gay
An American answer to Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, Rochester, New York's Manowar embody every conceivable heavy-metal cliché: Bodybuilders all, the four wear leather and animal pelts onstage; singer Eric Adams shrieks only of death, warfare and the glory of metal; Joey DeMaio performs solo bass renditions of "The Flight of the Bumblebee." They're quite possibly the most ludicrous people in rock & roll history.
Appalling fact In 1993, Russian youth voted Manowar above the Beatles and Michael Jackson as the act they would most like to see perform live.

You know, for a Three Dog Night cover band, they're not bad. Plus I like that song. It reminds me of Fear and Loathing whenever I hear it biggrin
