I used to think Danger Mouse was just really good. He now borders on godlike, and the gods are crazy.

Even though the stars are blind, CD store clerks are not and it was recently discovered that some 400 doctored copies of Paris Hilton's debut Paris showed up in retail chain HMV's bins. These 400 copies had an unauthorized alternate cover with Paris baring her ladies and sporting a doggie head.

The new cover art was the work of Gorrillaz graffiti artist Banksy, who also took liberties with the song titles. The album now includes philosophical questions that Paris may ask herself during her alone time, such as "Why Am I Famous?" and "What am I for?"

The actual remixes which total 40 minutes are credited to "DM."

Danger Mouse's management confirmed the audio terrorism with this official statement:

It's hard to improve on perfection, but we had to try.

Seems to me, stuff like this is the reason why we keep Paris famous.

There is more to Danger Mouse than Gnarls Barkley. He did all the production on Dare by Gorillaz.

What he became big for was the Gray Album though.

Plus he did recently work with MF Doom to create Danger Doom.

Still my favorite work by him is his work with Jemini "Ghetto Pop Life" That was some hot shit there.

I just listened to about 30 seconds of the original PH song. I was hungry, and now I feel like dry heaving.

I thought the gray album was tremendously overrated, and while I don't doubt that Danger Mouse is a really talented artist, I lose a little respect for people who like to be the arbiters of what is good or bad when it comes to pop music. I don't like Paris' songs, although I think they are wildly inoffesnive.

Gwen Stefani could release the same record as Paris and some music snob wouldn't deface her stuff. It's just that Paris is polarizing, and it makes for an interesting story because it's so polarizing.

Make your own music and stop worrying about what other people are doing.

In the same sense at least Stefani had some sort of struggle. I mean, shes been in music for a long time (anyone remember when No Doubt was actually a ska band?) Paris only has a cd because she has money. If Paris started off not as an heiress, we probably wouldn't be so harsh on her. But she bought her way to fame and thats why she deserves all these critiques.

Was it really Danger Mouse? The copy of the song I found (also 40 mins.) is attributed to Banksy, and it's really terrible (by design, of course). Plodding and boring with occasional vocal snippets of Paris saying Paris-things, like, "My tits look great in this." Then there's a brief interlude of Eastern European (Greek, maybe) folk music, after which Paris says "lame" and then it goes back to sucking.

The "remixes" which I have is actually one long track, called "That's Hot". And under Artist in my music folder it says "Banksy & Paris Hilton" and under Album it says "Paris (remixed by Banksy)".

All of which was attached to the mp3 by god knows who, I know, but I guess I'd have hoped it wasn't Danger Mouse. He could have atleast had her talking to Master Shake or something.

Yerp. I haven't seen any statements by lawyers or record labels demanding blah blah blah or blah blah blah. Maybe they exist, but I don't think so. Why would they want to stop DM and Banksy from being associated with Paris? That's the most music cred she'll ever have. And that's the point really, isn't it? It's not that she's an heiress that makes her music bad. That would be rather silly. I absolutely LOVE Deadsy (whose new album is the shizfuckinit! go buy it!), and from what I understand, all those guys come from wealth (obviously Elijah does). Doesn't fuckin' matter though because their new album (which you should at least download if your lazy ass isn't going to go buy it) is great, they play the shit out of their instruments, show MUCH musical growth from their last album, and (inhale, SHOCK!) it doesn't sound like all the other pablum that radio and Mtv would try and tell you is "popular". I, personally, hate Paris' music because it's shit. Not because she's rich. Rich people need something to do the same as poor people. But they have even fewer excuses when it comes to the suck factor. Paris is on, like, suck factor infinity to the infinite power. She can't sing, that shit is Pro Tools singing. It doesn't matter if she wrote one note of it, which I doubt, because it's crap. What does she play? Why is she famous is a valid question. And let's not forget that it wasn't her money that made her "famous". It was her vagina.

There's a very, very fine line between "inoffensive" and "uninteresting." And since we are long past the time where music has to suck and be boring to be accessible (see: Gorillaz, also part DM), I consider the continued production of music like this - saccharine, rehashed pop songs with the same goddam chord progresion and absolutely no melodic complexity - to be pretty offensive.

Snobbery or standards? You decide.
