Justin Broadrick's Jesu project is easily my favorite thing happening in heavy music right now. Take a good dose of My Bloody Valentine and cross it with doomy, almost frightening atmospherics and you have something resembling what Jesu is all about.

This year's Silver EP was a strong and dare I say accessible addition to Jesu's catalogue. According to Broadrick's blog, Jesu is preparing their sophomore full-length for a February 2007 release. The disc, called Conqueror, will contain 8 songs and will run a little over an hour.

That's not all, though. Broadrick has two 12" EP's in the works as well. The first contains two "experimental compositions" that are each 18 minutes in length and are entitled "Sun Down" and "Sun Rise". The second is a split 12" with ambient act Eluvium. Neither of these EP's have a confirmed release date.

The best news of all (assuming Broadrick follows through this time), is that a US tour is planned for next year, along with dates in both Japan and Europe.

ah, this is good news.

i've been a fan of Broadrick's since the early Godflesh days, and i think the last couple of things he's put out as Jesu have probably been his best work yet. majestic, hypnotic, and at its heart, very sad...

Good news. I'm a fan of the S/T album, though less sure about the Silver EP. I'm almost interested in this, from the same post:

"In other news there is a new Justin instigated band project - GREY MACHINE, the first album is currently in fruition. Many of Justin's old cohorts are involved in what will be a floating line up ; Dave Cochrane, a co-conspirator of Justin's [together in Head Of David, God, Sweet Tooth and Ice] is soon to be recording his bass parts. Expect something vicious, loose, heavy and psychedelic. More news very soon...."

Isis is great. Can't wait for the new one. And check out PELICAN!

Shamefully I've still not heard Jesu, but I loved Godflesh. This (along with about a million other things) has been on my "to check out" list for quite awhile.
