Backstage at this year's Lollapalooza, Mike Patton held an interview with G4TV about some of his upcoming projects. During the interview, Wolfmother took the stage, and it didn't take long for Patton to change the topic of discussion accordingly:
There's always stuff to do, you don't need to look very far. And these are all things that, really, I've been wanting to do for five years, so, in a strange way -- are you hearing this shit? What year are we in? Forgive me, but Wolfmother, you suck.
I personally don't care for Wolfmother, either, although I don't mind them nearly as much as Patton apparently does. But I, too, think that new music should stop trying to sound like it came from 10, 20, 30 years ago. Being influenced by the greats of the past is one thing, but the bands of today need to find their own sound.
And, on a side note, G4TV should go back to games and technology. Just because MTV refuses to do their job doesn't mean G4 should have to pick up their slack.
That's funny , cause I don't like Mike Patton that much . But I do love Wolfmother . Funny how that works , huh ? Now go learn how to actually sing , 'kay Mike ...

Man, if Patton has to learn to sing then Wolfmother should learn how to actually make music...
Well, Mike Patton just happens to be on place 1-10 in my Top Ten of the greatest musicians of all time - but he is not a diplomatic persón, that's for sure.
I'm not really into Patton but I have to agree listening to Wolf Mother does make me want to shot myself. You start to get tired of cheesy bands trying to rip off something done years ago.
Patton is one of the most genius musical minds in the history of music, and to think some hack band like Wolfmother and their fans stand a chance against anything Patton does, is just laughable. Piss on Wolfmother. Piss on fans of that shit.

Wow...so judging by everyone's response, opinions about music can differ(or not) between what one person likes and what another person likes. Fucking amazing!
Point being...Mike Patton is entitled to his own fucking opinion on music, and this isn't really news. Now, if Mike Patton decides to kill every last member of Wolfmother because he doesn't like their music...then that's news.
I'm Aussie, I've seen Wolfmother grow from a popular pub band and playing in a sheep shed at Big Day Out to fucking rocking the main stage, and they are FUCKING BRILLIANT!

'The bands of today?' Who are they? You're telling me the hundreds of great albums released in the past decade... they're all just played out sounds from days of yore?
Ha ! I love how Mike can insult me & my taste , but I can't say he isn't a very good singer . That's ok , I already got it from the Bob Dylan fans earlier too . Grow up folks , opinions are like assholes in that we all have them . Or should I play the game that some do & go look at your profiles to see who you all like & make fun of your questionable choices ? I would , but I have a semblance of a life .
And as far as his singing voice goes , he's the male Brittany Spears . Flame away

*highfives*
Mike Patton does not have to learn to sing. He has transcended "singing".
