A track from the forthcoming Beck album due in fall is online. This one comes with a title we can all relate to: "Cell Phone's Dead."

To hear what Beck considers "quasi hip hop" head over to his myspace page or homepage.

Really, it isn't remotely hip-hop. As a rapper, Beck has little to no flow, and totally neglected to tell me how much better he spits on the mic than phoney rappers. That's basic Hip-Hop fundamentals.

That being said, it's classic Beck, far from disappointing, hard to categorize. The track has a funky beat that's a bit too to slow, too intellectual to really devastate the dance floor, and all claims to club smasher are defeated as unusual breaks peak in throughout the song. The outro, which we get a peak of in a short intro, is standard freeway Pacific Highway driving at sunset music. Dig? Percussion, soaring voices, no heavy downbeat.

What do you think?

Is this thing on?

Sounds good. Can't wait for the album to launch.
