Technophiles the world over immediately recognize Audion as the alias of acclaimed producer Matthew Dear. Dear is no stranger to creating club anthems under his own moniker, and it's no different when he records as Audion; go to a techno party and see what happens when "Kisses" is played. That's right, people go mental.
Dear .. uh.. Audion is the kind of guy that likes to branch out, try new things and share with people. I suppose this is why he will be sharing an entire 12" with self-proclaimed Berlinette Ellen Allien. Allien is another figure that looms large over techy dance music. Her productions range from twisted electro to minimal bangers, and she self-releases much of her own music via her excellent label BPitch Control. She is good company for Dear, especially since the two toured North America together in 05. Did you catch it? If you did were you sober enough to remember? (It was dope).
Here's the skinny: Audion has a track called "Just a Man". Ellen has a track called "Just a Woman". The split single will feature original versions of both tracks coupled with each producer remixing the other's tune. Get it? Good. The 12" will be available through Spectral Sound, which many of you may know is an imprint of the superb Ghostly International label. Imprints, aliases, "Allien" ... where does it end? Who knows? The record hits stores July 25, so be on the lookout for it. Or buy it for a DJ. They will love you forever.
