A little while ago we told you about how Chris Cohen had left Deerhoof to focus on a side project called The Curtains. It was a sad, yet happy day. Or bittersweet, as they say.

Well, a release date has finally been set for the band's forthcoming debut on the Asthmatic Kitty label. That date? October 24. Still a ways away, but you may as well get ready to trot on down to a fine indie store and pick it up.

The interesting part is that Chris basically performed the entire record on his own with a little help from a couple of guests; namely guitarist Nedelle Torrisi, keyboardist Annie Lewandowski, Yasi Perera, and trombonist John Ringhofer. Cohen also produced the record. Though for all intents and purposes, this is Chris' deal, so step off.

There. Now that we're clear on that, let's check out a track. Pitchfork is offering an "exclusive download" of the record's title track. Here is "Calamity". Thanks, P-Fork.

Now, the band will also be on the road doing a sort of preview tour, or reverse support, or whatever you want to call it. They're touring in advance of the record, so watch now and buy later.
