This exhibit pays tribute to one of the most influential guitarists of all-time, Darrell Abbott, whose life was sadly cut short in an on-stage shooting December 8th, 2004. He was a multi-platinum, Grammy nominated artist who was loved throughout the music industry. The artist list in this show is evidence of his influence.

A sneak preview of Six String Masterpieces elicited an overwhelming response at this years NAMM show in Anaheim, garnering a wide spectrum of press within the music community including a commitment from Guitar Player Magazine with a 100-page special ICON issue for July, 2006. The exhibit received its second round of media and consumer attention at this years SxSW Music Conference in Austin, TX, residing in the KLBJ- FM Rock Lounge. The next stop was in Dallas, TX. as a featured attraction of the 29th Annual Dallas International Guitar Festival and Music fest taking place April 21 to 23, 2006 at The Dallas Market Hall.

WHATS NEXT?
We are taking Six String Masterpieces on the road for the next nine months to take this to as many top media markets as possible. The mission and message of the exhibit is to educate, empower and establish the importance of integrating music and the arts into the hearts and minds of children, sharing in the belief that every child has talent and children learn by doing.

THE EXHIBIT IS HEADED OUT ON OZZFEST AND NEEDS PRIVATE DONATIONS TO SUSTAIN ITSELF ON THE ROAD. EVERY DOLLAR HELPS. WE HAVE NO CORPORATE SPONSOR, THIS EXHIBIT MUST FUND ITSELF IN ORDER TO STAY ON THE ROAD AND BEING AVAILABLE FOR THE FANS.

We believe music sends a very powerful message and is the catalyst for a positive experience for young minds, especially those in lower-income areas where education is challenged by a multitude of outside influences. Six String Masterpieces will help make a positive first step towards these students achieving higher learning outcomes and greater life experience, regardless of their income level.

The guitars for this project were kindly donated by DEAN GUITARS. www.DeanGuitars.com

BACKGROUND

Guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott, drummer Vinnie Paul and bassist Rex Brown were the formation of what would become PANTERA. Pantera's rise to metal fame was catapulted by the release of Cowboys from Hell in 1990. Vulgar Display of Power followed and with it, brought the band star status and domination in the hard rock/metal music community for a decade. The band received four GRAMMY nominations, Platinum sales for The Great Southern Trendkill , Cowboys From Hell and Panteras Greatest Hits and Double Platinum sales for Vulgar Display of Power and Far Beyond Driven that had its debut at Number One on the Billboard album chart. Released in 2000, Reinventing the Steel was the final studio effort from the band. Darrell and Vinnie went on to form Damageplan, releasing New Found Power in 2003. During a Damageplan performance in Columbus, Ohio on December 8, 2004, Dimebag Darrell Abbott was fatally shot at the age of 38.

Prior to his unfortunate death, Abbott had designed the DIMEBAG DARRELL COLLECTION of MLs with DEAN GUITARS. In accordance with the Abbott familys wishes, these amazingly designed instruments were made available to the public in 2005. DEAN GUITARS remains committed to keeping DIMEBAG DARRELL'S dream alive of making the finest metal guitars in the world bearing his name.

Six String Masterpieces was conceived and curated by Curse Mackey, in collaboration with Elliott Rubinson, CEO and owner of Dean Guitars and Dean B. Zelinsky, the companys founder.
This exhibit celebrates Dimes creativity, enthusiasm and energy. The guitar model being used as the canvas is the DEAN ML, originally designed in 1976 by Dean Zelinsky, the founder of DEAN GUITARS. This is Dimebag Darrells signature instrument, the exact model he played his whole life. DEAN GUITARS kindly donated all of the guitars to this project.

ps. If you are able to attend one of these cities, please make sure to introduce yourself to Curse. I spent all weekend taking donations for this exhibit, and it has been worth the hard work. This exhibit is pretty amazing. Here are some pics of me working the merch table this weekend at Summer NAMM...
