Yes. There is actually more Arctic Monkeys news. Today, NME revealed what songs the Arctics will be covering on their upcoming Leave Before the Lights Come On EP, as well as telling the world that Jack White is a fan of the band.

Says Jack:

"I love the Arctic Monkeys [...] Who doesn't? I'd love to see them live, but haven't got round to it yet. I never get to see bands because I'm never in the same town for more than two seconds."

When asked, he joked that he'd like to "work" with the band. "We'll start with the gardening and move on to the housework," he said.

Heh. Jack, you rascal. A glowing endorsement, indeed! Someone drive the Monkeys to Target for cleaning materials. Daddy needs a tidy living room.

As for the actual music, the Arctics are releasing a new EP on August 14. You can't say they're not prolific. How the band finds time to get into a studio and record while they traverse the world is beyond me, but obviously it happens.

Next issue: The B-Sides. Continuing in the long tradition of English bands covering American R&B records, the Arctics have recorded a version of Barbara Lewis' "Baby, I'm Yours". They've also apparently done a little knock-up of "Put Your Dukes Up, John" by the Little Flames. Will the choice of covers lend a little more credibility to the scamps' hype? Maybe. Critics already love to put the band under a microscope, so we may as well shovel a little more coal into the fire.

Still jonesing for a live show? The band is in the land of toilet water that swirls the opposite way down the drain. Then there are stops in the land of the rising sun. Then they're headed home to the land of NME hype. Tell Jack White the dishes will have to wait.

I thought they did a great set on the re-run of a March Saturday Night Live I saw July 15th. Very impressive, great sound. They don't look like rockstars, and that's not a bad thing.
