short dreads?

i know long dreads look awesome, but what about short ones?

i ask 'cause i was thinking of getting dreads, my hair is fro'-y, but not long. i decided not to 'cause i think short dreads will look stupid!! plus their probably not my style, i just wanted to try something different.

so what do you think about short dreads?

edited to add: besides, i think they won't go with my ray bans(profile pic), which i love wearing!!

Short dreads. Do it man

I've always associated short dreads with people who are trying to fit into a subculture, but aren't willing to really commit to it. Dreads are supposed to be organized chaos, and short dreads amount to "well kempt organization, remeniscent of chaos." Something like the Dead Kennedys doing an acoustic, family friendly version of "Nazi Punks Must Die."

The only thing worse than short dreads are small braids that look like dreads from far away. Damned poseurs.

In case this offends someone, let it be known that I thought it was cool to wear Reebok hightops with sweat pants in public until I was in 9th grade, my point being my fashion sense isn't as solid as some of the hipster elite around here.

i love short dreads. my suggestion if you do it though... lose the moustache. that would not go with dreads.
i don't forsee any problems in the ray-ban-wearing arena.

dont worry about naysayers. if you like it and think it looks good on you, go for it. those who worry about how their self image will label themselves to particular groups of people get trapped by that image. who's to tell you and assume things about you w/o knowing you? plus, its not something permanent. dont like it? just change it again.

im sorry to say this. but you are an asshole. a flaming asshole. you just called locks SHITLOCKS. you are not worthy of having locks. calling dreadlocks(are you in a state of dread by the way? i didnt think so...lets call them locks from now on) shit locks takes away from the meaning of the hairstyle. why would you talk shit on something you would want to wear? i understand what you are saying, but at the same time, i have to give you a big FUCK YOU for saying that. ive had locks for 3 years now and almost everyday i hear people like you saying stupid shit. from asking me if i "know where da weed at?" to people yelling "yo dread rasta" to me from across the street. ive heard it all. and its getting more annoying.

yeah yeah i hate ignorance too, whatever, but come ON. who gives a shit what TERM this person uses to describe a certain hairstyle with? one could argue that this term isn't even derogatory in its nature. you've seen those huge locks. they can easily be seen as resembling shit.

im trying to hammer the point in that its very disrespectable to call locks, shitlocks. and also, after hearing the same comments over and over and over all the time, im getting really fed up.

Short dreads rock (mine went to about the bottom of my nose in the front then shortend tords the back) there just a pain in the ass to get started.

ever try cutting your hair? that would probably stop those comments.

you should realize that it's also a bit disrespectable to go off on someone like that... even if you do have a disclaimer at the end that it's not "personal"... doesn't create a very nice environment here... that's all i'm saying
