If Al Jourgensen is the High Priest of Ministry then Paul Barker calls himself the sacrificial lamb. I would disagree because I've seen Ministry in concert and Barker is just as nuts. But Jourgensen supposedly once drank puke. I couldn't see Barker doing that. I think he would rather sit on his porch drinking lemonade but then when a door to door salesman shows up he whips out his shotgun and blows the fucking guy's head off.
Anyway I've been reading the boards of SG lately and let me tell you...
Ministry is one of the greatest bands of my time They've influenced every band I've been in, and at 30, I've been in quite a few.I've been into goth and industrial music for a long time and Ministry is one of the few groups that have never left my cd rack. I could go on, but you'd all slap me.....
ah. i'll get mental soon with all those coincidences.gut gut. anyway, can't wait for the album (i'm still in the ass part of the world) and the liner notes...*rolls eyes* haha.
big thanks and kisses for this interview.
Ministry has always been one of my absolute favorite bands- it's good to see that they're looking forward, and not thinking about stopping. Good article, too.
i love ministry. good article, too. i'm gonna have to go back and watch AI again. i dont remember it being slow and difficult...
(btw, are these articles and interviews done by SG members who are also freelance writers, or are they done by freelance writers who sell material to the SG site.....just curious)
It's good to see that Ministry is still going as strong as ever, hadn't heard much from them in a few years, got a little worried. For the last 15 years or so, they've managed to generally do the same thing, yet keep making it good enough to keep us diehards interested. It was heavier stuff like Filth Pig, Psalm 69 & The Land of Rape and Honey that got me interested, but I now even enjoy the earlier stuff like Twitch (the last track has some interesting similarities to some Reznor songs). Ministry & the Melvins are probably the 2 bands (off the top of my head) that I have alot of praise for sticking with it as long as they have. And no one else can sample old men laughing quite like they have...
I love Ministry. They are really the band that introduced me to the whole alternative culture and opend me up to music beyond what was on the radio. This was over 10 years ago and I still love them. Thanks for the great article!!!
saw them in LA 1992 with helmet. fucking amazing. one of the best shows i've been to. so much stimuli....it was just as much an art exhibit as a rock show....
