I want a cat, but I have the same problems. 
I picked up a friend's kitten one day, and my eyes swelled shut nearly instantly. Some cats give me a worse reaction than others, some not at all.
Actually seems as if I'm allergic to everything lately...

I am DEATHLY allergic to cats, but I have two. They do the same thing to me, itchy, watery eyes all swollen, my skin breaks out, and I get the worst asthma. I love my cats though, so I take some meds and deal with it the best I can.

Dude.... My cats make me all blah too! But I love them... just try to vacum and sweep alot and change your bedding often. Brush your kitties fur so he or she doesn't shed so much. Also... Claritin allergy medicine is your friend!

I always saw myself as ending up like somewhat of a crazy cat-lady. Had a few cats as a kid, simply because it was either us taking them or they'd be killed, but it wasn't always good since my mother was allergic. So I figured when I move away from home, Then I'll get my very own cat.
Well, life's a bitch and I end up living with a wonderful guy who is deadly allergic to cats.
I got myself some rats instead. They're cuddlier, anyway.
