We need some Metroid Prime appreciation up in this joint.

Metroid Prime is not just the best game I have played this generation, it is one of the best games I have ever played, period. I was originally skeptical about the FPS view but my doubts proved to be without cause... it doesn't even feel like an FPS, it feels like Metroid in 3D.

Metroid Prime 2 info is coming this E3. I CAN'T WAIT!?!!!?!!!?!?!

Yeah the immersion was amazing. Visor effects, scanning, moody music, etc. The game really made you feel like you were in that suit.

I watch my kids play it, it's cool, but I've never played it myself. My kids also can't wait for Metroid Prime 2. I prefer car games like Crazy Taxi or games like Silent Hill. surreal

If you have never played it you don't really know if you prefer other games to it...

Trust me, this is one of the greatest video games ever made.

I would say that yes, it was. Super Metroid will always hold a more special place in my heart, but Metroid Prime was definately on a comparable level of greatness.

Though Super Metroid still has the best music.

I loved Metroid Prime. Best Gamecube game out there. Metroid has been one of my all time favorite game series (right behind Castlevania). Prime was definetly one of the best looking games on the Cube and it had some great atmosphere. Plus, it really felt like a Metroid game despite my fears of the whole first-person perspective (note, I do like FPS, but Metroid scared me when I heard they doing a platform shooter a la Turok...and I didn't care for Turok). Definitely one of the most amazing games and the best reason to get a Cube.

I heard they are trying to put Multiplayer in Prime 2...makes you wonder if they are a) going to keep Mutliplayer in the same gameplay aspect of single player (meaning you could lock on...which could seem a bit odd for a multiplayer mode), b) keep single player in the same aspect it was in Prime, but make the multiplayer have more traditional FPS controls, or c) just have the entire game have the true traditional FPS controls (both analogs...left to move, C stick to aim). Be interesting to see how that turns out if the mutliplayer is still being done (I haven't been following news on it lately, so I really do not know...don't blame me...blame Resident Evil 4 and Silent Hill 4...those seemed to be getting a lot attention from me lately...probably cause of the major hype that people been having here on those titles).

Multiplayer is still a rumour. I highly doubt they will change the controls, so if there is multiplayer I imagine it won't be a typical deathmatch type thing, cause that would suck with MP's lock-on. Some unique action/adventure multiplayer mode could be cool.

I commented on the changing of the control cause they did that for Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomarrow. Playing as a spy in multiplayer has different controls than the single player campaign (IE, you click left thumbstick put your back to the wall in the single player, but I believe you hit A for the for multiplayer)...not to mention the fact if you play as a mercenary, the game is now a first person shooter instead of a third person game. Could be possible. And I highly doubt they would change the controls. For one thing...it worked perfectly.

But a Co-op mode would be cool if it could be implemented...

Either way, it is going to be "we will have to wait and see" type of situation.

after all the hype i thought metroid prime was a horrible game.
to me it was a substandard adventure shooter with the most godawfull intrusive interface i've ever seen, i felt like craning my neck subconsiously the whole time to peer past that annoying visor.

the world itself was rather lame in my opinion, most of the game you spend backtracking through a meagre 4 or so worlds with original themes like lava, ice and forest, i got quite sick of finding random item that unlocked a door on the other side of the world where i found another item that allowed me to progress in yet another far corner forcing me to backtrack once again.
another thing that killed the illusion of a living world for me was the fact that every single organism was aggressive and/or dangerous, a few harmless ones wouldn't hurt to improve the illusion of a living breathing world.

i don't usually rant on a game like this but after playing metroid prime i just thought it was rediculous and insane the amount of praise that game got, in my opinion it's a terrible game with some of the worst design issues that i've seen in such a high profile product and has nothing going for it but pretty graphics.

i was excited for a new metroid game, but weary when i read it was going to be in first-person perspective. when i played a demo, the good heavily outweighed the bad. and there is NOTHING bad about this game.

i can't wait to see what 2 has in store.

sidenote: i recently finished up zero mission. in a word: awesome.

Everyone thought Metroid as an FPS was wrong.

Then we played it, and realized it wasn't really an FPS like most people think of FPS. In fact, it was Metroid... in 3D.

i agree with everything snottlebocket said.

metroid and supermetroid were two of my favorite games ever. ive played them again and again so many times over the years its ridiculous.

metroid prime, i fucking hated it... i tried really hard not to... i rented it for 7 days and i didnt want to play it again after a couple hours, but i forced myself to play through to see if it got any better later on... it never did. then after a bunch of people kept telling me how great it was and how i was crazy for not liking it, i decided to give it a second try, and i got even more pissed off about how bad it was than the first time.

in general i think nintendo ruined most of it's strongest franchise games between n64 and gamecube.
