The Dark Tower series is the best stuff he's ever written, I expect no less from this. I think I may have to reread the first four books though since I haven't read them since the last one came out about 5 or 6 years ago.

I'm hella excited. The Dark Tower series is the epitome of Stephen King. When he got hit by that van, all I could think was, "Shit, no end to the Dark Tower series, fuckin' shit!"

I'm looking forward to this as well. I stopped reading most of King's stuff quite a while ago, but I still enjoy the Dark Tower series.

Now that's news that makes me happy.
I also think Dark Tower is his best work. One of the best stories that I've ever read. It's on par with Lumley's Necroscope and Moorcock's Elric saga.

This thread makes me happy. I'm glad I'm not the only King dork on this site.

I do love the Dark Tower series, but personally I would say that one or two other novels rank more highly with me... But then as a series the Dark Tower is phenomenal.

I unfortunately won't be getting it as soon as it comes out as I'm poor and have little time eeek

I'll probably wait awhile too, even if it's my favorite series and my favorite author to read.

I love the Dark Tower series. The problem with re-reading them is then I'll want to read every one of his books that tie into the Dark Tower universe somehow, and that's about two-thirds of them.

I'm extremely glad that five is coming out, but not as glad as I could be. You see, I read that the series will take another two or three books to end, so after five there's still at least one more book. What if he dies or gives up on it before then? Too much stress. So I dial my excitement back to a more manageable level, and thus appear to not care.

My god I am behind on reading. Dammit, now I gotta go pick up a book on my way home. And then another next month. Er... well I pick up about 5-10 books a month as it is. So nevermind that wink

Yeah, that's a lot of books to read again. This month. :p. (Thanks to the nice girl at Borders who copied that for me.)

There are 2 more books, Song of Susannah and The Dark Tower, which will be out next year. It's my understanding the'yre both pretty much finished. You can already pre-order the audio version of Song of Susannah on Amazon. No worries. biggrin

I just pre-ordered Wolves of Calla from here. It costs the same as Amazon and Barnes and Noble, plus they offer free shipping (you have to order another item to qualify for free shipping at the other 2 sites) AND they donate 2% of your purchase price to the charity of your choice!

Yup, I have heard that books six and seven are written and being edited currently.

I just started rereading the first one the other night, I have to reread all four of them before I can buy the new one because I know as soon as I buy it I will want to read it.

Once this series is done I won't have any more Gunslinger books to look forward to frown
That just sucks.
Happy for the next book(s) in the series but when it ends there won't be any more anticipation.

I read the first two when they came out, waited a few years, started reading the third, couldn't remember what the hell was going on, read the first two again, then the third. Bought the fourth when it came out, started reading it, couldn't remeber what the hell was going on, started reading the first one again. Decided to fuck it and just wait till they were all out.

So I'm looking forward to that. smile

Because there is an SG Stephen King group where everything is discussed.

Long days and pleasant nights, sai.
