they actually say if you dream about death, that you are gonna live for a very long time. Or something like that. All i can say is that my dreams scare the shit out of me. Basically my dreams consist of some dude, whom i can't see, trying to convince me that he is a good guy. That everything i've been told about him is false. That i should get to know him before i pass judgement on him, and so on and so forth. It's just weird..then i try to wake myself up..and he get's pissed off. Saying, " see i'm not even hurting you, i'm just trying to talk to you and you wanna leave..." It's just fucked up.. I might post the whole story in my journal tonight..biggrin

i think this is just your brain reconciling itself about death. my friend Geoff after he died would show up in my dreams basically until i understood and accepted he had died.

and about lucid dreams... i had the most awesome vivide zombie dream last night. these things happen. sometimes you just have to run with it and enjoy it.

most death dreams are interpretted as a part of you dying...in this case, you may have said it yourself...if nobody would find you for weeks...perhaps the part of you that needs to die?

I think you were visiting dead friends in the only way you can now, and when Chris told you to "think about that a second," you were starting to wake up; your conscious mind was getting control again, and wanting you to make sense of what you were seeing ... and the only way you could do that was by assuming that you were dead yourself. I've had dreams like that. You know, unreasonable situations that proceeded just fine until a noise or the customary waking up time. Then my mind would put an end to them in some quick, "logical" way ("You're dead, that's why you are hanging out with dead people") and then I wake up. Screaming.

I hope you're right, because my re-occuring dream of being lost in the woods and shot by a hunter, but I don't die, I fall down and the hunter comes up and just keeps unloading his gun on me. Sometimes its a shotgun, sometimes its a machine gun, either way, I don't think I should have been on that guy's land.

The first dream posted I think is the sub-concious trying to tell you that you don't want to be in the position where you wouldn't be found for weeks after dying.

Dreams are a tricky situation dude, its long been said that if you die in a dream you will die in real life which is why your mind wakes you up if your falling and about to hit rock bottom. I've also had dreams where I've been shot or mortally wounded but somehow just keep going on in the dream. People will ask me if I'm ok or when I think I'm going to die and all I say is not yet, but soon. Freaky.

If you don't mind one really crazy theory maybe you are missing these folks more than you realize and something your subconcious(?) mind is aware of is coming up that reminds you of their deaths? Anniversery of one of them perhaps?

So as in normal dreams I try to wake myself up... and I cant....my mind is very clear and I am resigned to being dead... then all of a sudden I gasp for air and WAKE UP coughing. I pace around trying to see if I am awake for real.. and grab some water... all the time short of breath (but not in a panicky way, in an asmatic way, I am not asmatic).

What do I do?

Sounds like sleep apnea.

Since all symbols have a potential of duality, the most important thing to consider is that of being totally honest with yourself as to what it means to you.

Pick out one outstanding symbol and ponder it's meaning.

Based on the details you've related, Background and Theme, here are some possible interpretations...

The Bar:
A disreputable state, low morals and animalistic behavior, a place to avoid, a "no no", a way of unwinding or of escape. *Pertaining to a scene of death or dying: Could be the death of a drinking habit or warn that drinking can be the death of you.

Communicating with the Dead:
Commonplace. A frequent occurence in dreams and nothing to be alarmed about.
Spiritual bodies are on the same astral plane where you and I travel every night; it's natural that you should run into them from time to time. A dream may point out something which has not yet been forgiven, released, or worked out between you. It's never too late to tell them that you still love them. They do get the message and often reply in your dreams.

Did you see anyone who was like 6ft 5, 250lbs, clean shaven, with a big gut and drinking Coors light?

Because you know, that wasn't me.

You know, with that thought it was neither the bar or the friends - it was the feeling like I was being myself and the clarity that rings the loudest.... that was the message in their. Think the death was my confusion to get out of the dream as someone said - and the bar was just a bar - nothing decadent, it was more of a social analogy.

Yes, I'd beware of packaged interpretations. I think your brain, coming into consciousness, was just trying to give you a sensible reason why you might have made up such a scenario -- "You must be dead!" -- and it scared the hell out of you in the process. Your logical mind was just doing its job, after the other (more fun!) part of your brain enjoyed itself in the dream, talking to the people you miss so much.
