Questions continued to develop regarding John Mark Karr’s allegations he accidentally killed JonBenet Ramsey. His story took several unusual turns, with several statements contradicting the existing evidence.

At a press conference this week, Karr stated he was in Colorado when JonBenet was killed, but Karr’s family insisted he was with them during the same time period.

At a press conference in Bangkok Thursday, Karr said, "I was with JonBenet when she died." Visibly nervous and stuttering as he spoke, Karr added, "Her death was an accident. … I loved JonBenet."

Karr’s brother Nate said the allegation his brother murdered JonBenet is “just ridiculous.” Karr’s ex-wife, Lara Knutson, stated Karr was with her in Alabama during the time period in question, and her attorney, Michael Rains, says she can prove it.

"She's got homework to do," he said. "She's going to go through old records, photographs, home movies – anything she has from that time period to show that Karr was with his family in Alabama that Christmas."

To cloud the case even more, Thai officials can’t get their own version of the story straight.

Speaking with the AP, Lt. Gen. Suwat Tumrongsiskul originally said Karr told him that he'd sexually assaulted JonBenet and given her drugs. Suwat also told a press conference Thursday that Karr said he had picked up Ramsey at school. On Friday, however, Suwat confirmed to the AP only the sexual-assault confession. He could not confirm that Karr said he had given the girl drugs, and Suwat admitted that the story about Ramsey being picked up from school came from a documentary he had seen and not the interrogation.

Is he a criminal or this a false confession from a disturbed attention-seeker?

I thought he was making it up right from the get-go. Something just doesn't make sense to me about the arrest, the confession and the speed with wich he was extradited to the US. Something is fishy.

Yep, I had my doubts about him from the beginning as well. And they only grew as the stories kept coming. But if they match the DNA, end of story.

I still don't understand why anyone gives a shit about this story.

Don't we have soldiers dying needlessly in a foreign land still, as well as the erosion of individual rights on our own soil, etc.

Maybe we should send all of our child beauty queens to Iraq...

He wasn't extradited. His was deported for "violating his visa". It was the fastest way they could get him to the US.

relax guy.

people like you aren't getting shot and killed over there. people like me are.

ah hell, I think I'm gonna use that statement all the time in everyday, non-related situations.

"what do you mean my coupon for green beans doesn't apply on tuesdays?? Don't we have soldiers dying needlessly in a foreign land still, as well as the erosion of individual rights on our own soil, etc."

"gas is $3.13?? Don't we have soldiers dying needlessly in a foreign land still, as well as the erosion of individual rights on our own soil, etc."

"speeding?? I wasn't speeding! Don't we have soldiers dying needlessly in a foreign land still, as well as the erosion of individual rights on our own soil, etc."

awesome. I can be a playa too.

If you don't see the difference between my statement and yours I feel sorry for you.

(hint: it has to do with the relevance of the top news story on a given day)

no, actually it has to do with bringing bullshit politics into a thread that has nothing to do with it.

if you can't see that difference...the one where I used humor, and you used a 14 year old's screaming politico-speak...well then.

iraq is not the only news in the world. maybe in yours, but not the "actual world".
people like hearing about a whole range of subjects.

Ok, take the word "needlessly" out of my original statement and it still makes the same point without a political twist. It's a non-story about an even bigger non-story.

And I thought sending child beauty queens to Iraq was pretty funny...

And yet...you took the time to offer a completely blank & irrelevant statement. Funny how that works.

How is a murder case not news-worthy?

Seriously, have you ever watched the news before?

Yes, the news is full of 10 year old murder cases 12 states away. My bad.

HUMOR.

And still no one has actually said why this is news, or was to begin with. Media distractionism and ratings-whoring at its best.
