Damn, I love me some MST3K. I didn't catch all that much of it on Comedy Central; most of the eps I saw were the Scifi ones. (Didn't they run some of the Comedy Central ones on Scifi as well?) My favorite was the movie as well. It was the best-produced, and I think they might have spent more time on the script, because it went from hilarious to outright gut-busting. On another note, did anyone catch the Oscar special they had a few years back? They were "reviewing" the Oscar nominees when they were still in theatres, and Titannic was one of them. They showed the scene where the captain steps out of the cabin into a beautiful, blue-skied day, and Servo tosses in, "I'm gonna sink this bitch."
As far as Mike or Joel, I'd have to say I liked Mike better. I liked his sense of timing more. Plus, Joel talked really slowly. I didn't like that at all.
Sci-fi only ran the last few seasons of MST3K (the ones with Pearl Forrester). This is because they couldn't procure the rights to the previous seasons. I don't know who owns those rights, but they're probably an AOL/Time Warner company or some bitchy shit like that.
MST3K did Time of the Apes? Oh my god.
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I'm such a Planet of the Apes geek that years ago I paid a ridiculous amount of money for a horrendous copy of this movie. It sucks, and deserves to be mocked.
I must find this episode!
You can go to www.mst3ktapes.com and get just about any episode you want - on DVD - for only 11 bucks. I've ordered about 10 or so from there, and it's surprisingly good qulity, seeing as some haven't been shown in almost 10 years!.
I had to watch Manos again on Easter, because of Dr. F's invention: the Chocolate Bunny Guillotine. "Takes the guesswork out of biting the heads off bunnies, bwahahahhaha!!"
Plus, I admit it - I had a major Torgo jones that demanded satisfaction....
i actually bought "MANOS: hands of fate" this weekend tried to watch it tonight and the dvd is a bad one. so what a waste of 20$ i was really in the mood to watch it too.
Oh, you're "GOING ON," all right, dude... And on, and on, and on...
Edie, I love Tom Servo too! OK, let me just confess that I love EVERYBODY on the show.
Has anyone ever seen Latitude Zero? It's the best MST3K movie they never did. My sweetie remembered it fondly from his childhood, and we recently got the DVD. Apparently, 30-odd years have taken their toll; he didn't think it was quite as cool as he remembered it. It's definitely one of the wackiest films I've ever seen. I'm really surprised it never got the MST treatment; probably couldn't get the rights to it, or something. Anyway, check it out sometime for a completely experience.
OK, I recently watched "Secret Agent Super Dragon" again, as it is partially set in Amsterdam, and we're going there for a friend's wedding on the 21st. What a hoot! I'm sure it's changed so much that I won't recognize it. That is one of my favorite MST movies anyhoo. C'mon, MSTies represent!!
