A lot of people think that they can say whatever they want on the internet and it has absolutely no bearing on "real life."

In all my time in modeling I've never once posed or posted a picture for those who don't like me. I produce pictures for myself and for the others that enjoy what I do. I don't ask for comments or critiques. I know a lot of my photographers like to post the pictures they take of me on other websites and ask for opinions. Usually they're looking for tips on lighting and composition. But there's always some guy who comes on and decides to point out what's wrong with the model. Most of my photographers shut them down quickly but some of my ex photographers actually apologize as if it's their fault for working with such a crappy model. It still holds true, if you haven't anything good to say about someone, don't say anything at all. But this is the comment generation. Very rarely are comments ever monitored on the internet and that seems to open the door for anyone with insecurities about themselves to vent on others. The negative comment beast is a part of our culture now. It is most often the way for the insecure to feel strong. Most people that see the SG blog see the girls as successful and just like movie stars or pop stars, the general populous attempts to knock them off their perch. I get attacked quite often with negative comments but I was told by someone when I started in modeling that having people become more negative and nasty towards you was a sure indication of success.

when you put yrself out there one must expect the negative along with the positive.I know this site as well as other people throw a rock at Tom Cruise as often as possible. And who would not like to smack the smug grin that has everything. My point is accept it and move on.Fame comes with a price no matter how mediocre that fame maybe.Sure its insensitive but they are only cowards behind a monitor. Some people are just losers.

that sort of thing is not limited to the SG blog by a long shot. any site with celebrity or model photos will attract the same sort of crowd.

here's my theory: everyone posting on the internet is trying to come across as the person they'd like to be-- or think they are-- in real life. I think a lot of people believe that, by calling beautiful people ugly or fat or whatever, they are tricking others into thinking "gosh, if this guy's standards are so high he must be a goddamn supermodel!" I think the posters think they are coming across as ultra cool, beautiful people with discriminating taste.

it's sort of like when teenagers first start listening to decent music, they won't shut the fuck up about how everything anyone's heard of sucks.

The minute these generic myspace goons start liking SG is the minute SG is OVER.
It is way to easy to talk shit on the interweb without ever having to back it up. Nobody likes to be disrespected, yet thank goodness the mainstream world hasn't "found" SG yet.

how much more mainstream can porn get than playboy? members have been worrying about the downfall of SG due to too much generic internet goon traffic ever since the HBO special back in 2003... probably longer than that, but I wasn't there. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it if I were you. wink
