Few comic book creators have had the worldwide impact that Carlos Ezquerra’s work has. This is the man who changed the face of comic books back when he and John Wagner created Judge Dredd. Since then Ezquerra has worked more than steadily, there must be something in the water over in Spain for people like Sergio Aragonés and Ezquerra to be so prolific. Most recently Ezquerra has worked with Garth Ennis on Preacher, War Story, Bloody Mary and their latest project is A Man Called Kev for DC’s Wildstorm...

American readers interested in more about Carlos Ezquerra might like to know that he's been quite busy alongside the Kev series.

He works very regularly for 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine. Carlos's most recent work has been a four-part Cursed Earth Koburn story which just wrapped up in May, with a 5-part Strontium Dog story before that, in January.

A hardback collection of Fiends of the Eastern Front was just published in England this month, and will be in US comic shops in mid-July. Carlos also had several episodes appear in the Judge Dredd: Brothers of the Blood collection which was released in March.

Judge Dredd: Origins will begin in 2000 AD # 1505. This will be solicited in the July issue of Previews, so be sure to let your local comic shop know you want them to order it!

I bought 2 pages of Carlos' original artwork about ten years ago "Strontium Dog The Killing" and "Judge Dredd Apocalypse War" - 2000ad was a big part of my childhood, and those two stories were amongst the best ever printed, and the artworks still have pride of place in my home. His style is just so 'right', and he rocks! smile

whenever garth ennis did something with ezquerra, he would hype it up in the letters page of preacher, and always describe it as follows:

"story by me, art by the mighty carlos ezquerra" which, for me, sums him up perfectly.
