While working on my soon-to-be-published magnum opus, "Confessions of a Conservative Heartbreaker," and engaging in some rigorous online research about conservatives and wedding mishaps this past weekend, I stumbled upon this sad, tragic photograph, which I've reproduced below because, as a conservative, I have no respect for intellectual property or copyright.

But, O! How it reminded me of my attempt at navigating the canals of Venice, CA using a celebratory submarine I had rented from the U.S. Navy on the occasion of my nuptials.

Sure enough, on that fateful day, I, too, was grounded. Amidst the narrow water pathways of Venice on the day of my wedded bliss, I had an epiphany. A real wingnut moment...Both Venice and San Francisco are hotbeds of liberal depravity, and they were conspiring to undo the majesty of Conservative Living!

So what if we like big cars and even bigger nuclear submarines? We pay taxes, too (however reluctantly), and that entitles us to the usage of our giant vehicles, I say.

As a limo driver, I feel for the driver in this photo. I feel that he's a moron.
As a member of the SG community, I have to echo MissTyrios' comment as I also have no fucking idea what this story is about.
As a total moron, I have just realized that "MissTyrios" is a clever take on "mysterious". How I made dean's list confounds even experts.

interesting pic. nice moment. remember that mike savage calls sf his home, though. so liberal is a relative term. and, oh, yes...a point to remember-- all three branches of "our" govt. (that concept which you ought to oppose as a good conservative) are hotbeds of conservative depravity...which is worse? seems we have our answer shown to us day in and day out...last thing, one can't stay what one is not...historically, by definition, and due to our "conservative" govt. we are not free. viva bush! ignorance is strength...war is peace...freedom is slavery. has a ring to it...tell faux knews orwell has the trademark.

hope the suv crowd likes the pic, too! nothing conservative about that white whale!

The story appears to be that he found a semi-humorous photo on the internets and tried to create a non-story around it.

He succeeded in the "non-story" part.

Another job well done. Give this man a check.

"The most liberal country in the world" - but your profile says you live in the U.S., not one of the north european liberal countries, I'm confused. Are you being liberal with the truth? Nice sarcasm though biggrin

You know in Metal Gear Solid, when Solid Snake leaves a footprint somewhere or has his arm accidentally sticking out, and the genome soldier has a question mark appear above his head?

This news story makes me feel that way.

If it is a news story, and not an overblown blog entry, which is what it feels like.

I've heard of high-centering a 4X4, but that's ridiculous.

Perhaps this will have a similar fate of other stranded whales...

MSNBC staff and news service reports
Updated: 8:48 a.m. PT Jan 29, 2004
TAIPEI - Residents of Tainan learned a lesson in whale biology after the decomposing remains of a 60-ton sperm whale exploded on a busy street, showering nearby cars and shops with blood and organs and stopping traffic for hours.

The 56-foot-long whale had been on a truck headed for a necropsy by researchers, when gases from internal decay caused its entrails to explode in the southern city of Tainan.

Residents and shop owners wore masks while trying to clean up the spilt blood and entrails.
