can't think of any old franchise better suited to cgi than transformers really, there's been a bunch of near perfect cgi transformer fan made clips.

as for the cartoon, it was an excuse to sell cheap plastic toys, they can hardly make it worse can they.

nooooooooooooooo! have you watched this movie recently? It's actually great!

all the voice cameos... really awesome cheesy eighties rock.. the whole resurrection theme... I think they should show the Transformers movie in Sunday school.

but seriously Snottlebocket... give this film another try. You might need a beer in hand.

the cartoon that rocked your world when you were 6 has already been destroyed by all the annoying new cartoons they've slapped the transformers label on. there are at least 6 of them and they're all crap.

im a tf addict, its sad but true. anyway. the cartoon move was bad, no where near as good as the gi joe one. however. the live action one that they are making sounds either really cool, or really bad. And Im leaning towards the really bad.

but we shall see

I just took a look at a cgi test of Optimus that was posted on a fan site it looks really good.
Here's the IMDb page. They have some decent actors working on it.
It doesn't list any voice credits though for the Transformers themselves. It'd really be cool if they could get the original voice actors for the Transformers, especially whoever did Starscream.

As long as they leave my precious Silver Hawks legacy alone, I'm fine with this.

Speaking of Soundwave, if they use him in the movie, I wonder if they would keep him as a casette player, or update him into like an iPod or something. My gut feeling is that, sadly, they would change him. Especially because if they made him an iPod, it would be good product-placement $$$$

Bah-weep-grah-nah-weep-ninny-bah!

And I agree that the original was trashed by all of the follow-up cartoons that suck ass. I have some faith in this project. Though I admit I am a bit nervous. I keep hearing that Spielberg is producing...hopefull he will keep it in line.

Eh. I got the season 1 box sets a while back and, and I think our childhood came pre-destroyed. Remember the cosmic space cube? The only good one was the Beast Wars from the 90's. (The later seasons, anyway.)

My advice is to download the theme song, put it on a loop, and try not to read about the new movie. Some of the stuff they're leaking about the transformations... eeek
