There's a lovely show called Battlestar Galactica that is produced by Ron Moore. Moore was a writer for Star Trek The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.

There was also a lovely show called Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. This was primary written by a nice fellow named Joss Whedon. He had some great help writing Buffy, including help from Jane Espenson. A few months ago, her writing-contract expired with Fox. And she signed on with NBC Universal. They run the SciFi Channel, and Espenson has signed on to write for Moore on Galactica.

Espenson announced her “Galactica” gig on her website. You can find it in the white box in the upper right hand corner.
She and “Galactica” showrunner Ron Moore worked together before, when she scripted a episode of the Moore-produced “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.”

This is one step closer to a Joss Whedon-scripted episode of Galactica. Just one more step…

I have heard, however, that Southland Tales is a piece of garbage. Maybe Ms. Geller's career isn't as promising as she once thought.

She did kick mucho ass as Buffy, though. I loved that show. smile

Can we afford that? I mean, which characters will fall hopelessly in love, and then have to leave to avoid hurting the other one, or worse yet, be suddenly and ruthlessly impaled when you least expect it... We don't have a lot of disposeable characters left... Maybe Callie? wink

Jane Espenson also wrote the Firefly episode "Shindig". She probably would have wound up writing more but, well, you know. frown

I dunno... I loved Buffy, but to me it never approached the quality of story, scripting, acting and production that Galactica pulls off with every episode. It was campy, kitschy, and tongue-in-cheek; that's what made it entertaining. Galactica feels far more real, despite its sci-fi premise- one of the show's strengths is it's complexities of characterization. Galactica's characters have been pushed to the limits of their endurance, and they are decidedly not superhuman, with flaws akimbo and aplenty. Most of them have to function within the rigidity of the military command structure, and though they may find something to chuckle about every now and then, they don't have a reliably glib quip for every situation. Even Firefly is guilty of this.

I agree 100%. I was never much of a Buffy or Firefly fan. I hope they can keep Galactica's edge with out having to resort to gimmicks to hold the audience's attention.

Alright, now I officially have NO excuse not to watch that show.

Other then the fact it's not broadcast in free-to-air tv here and the dvds are expensive... blackeyed

Download them one at a time on ITunes if you can. That's how I see the episodes that I'm not home to watch. They cost about 2 dollars a pop.

Joss Whedon is the curent director... and Gellar is currently the lovably dark Alice.... I say currently because people leave projects for one reason or another... So far... thats the Director/Lead lineup

Buffy writers moved to Alias after their shows were cancelled.

I blame them more than anyone else for killing Alias, moreso even than the show's creator J.J. Abrams turning his attention to Lost. They added vampires and zombies to the show.

Vampires. and zombies. To a spy show.

I don't think you're right because IMDB says that the director for Alice is some German dude named Marcus Nispel. Not that IMDB is always right, but a rudimentary google didn't turn anything up either.
