Augusten Burroughs exploded in the literary world with his scathing memoir Running with Scissors which remained on the New York Times bestseller list for over two-and-a-half years. Since then, books like Dry and Magical Thinking have been just as good and nearly as popular. Additionally a movie adaptation of Running with Scissors has been filmed by Nip/Tuck creator Ryan Murphy and Burroughs is creating a series for Showtime.

I've read all his books and I absolutely suggest him as a great read. Especially Dry.

I'm embarassed to say I didn't know who he was until about 2 weeks ago.
A friend of mine suggested I look him up all inspirational like so I booked on down to Magpie Books on Commercial Drive here in Vancouver (funny name, in a genus/species way) and picked up "Dry" and "Memoirs".
Burned through both in 3 days.
Not only did I love reading his stories, but I kinda got a bit of hope from it all. Not just from his life story, but from the fact that he could actually write about it honestly and people ended up wanting to read it! That was my big shocker. Never thought anybody would actually wanna read about that shite, as funny as it can be to the person living the drama. That was new insite.
Yes indeed he's a swell fellah, and this interview proves he can also be as quick witted in conversation.
One day I'll probably thank him, in person or otherwise.
