Just got done being yelled at for burning a pizza. It was in the oven, I think about 2 minutes too long, and so that led to being told I'm fucking up his business and none of the other managers want me on a shift with them (which is to say, the one other manager there, and who happens to despise me), and that basically if I fuck up one more time I'm going to be let go.

Now, I'm not so much looking for sympathy right now, shit happens. But I know you wonderful folks have some really stunning stories of boss-assholery, and I'd really love to hear them just to be reminded that my situation really isn't that bad.

Care to share?

Two fridays back my boss called us over to the mural-painting-area to reveal that he had brought in three cakes, two pies, three pizzas, a dozen bags of chips, pop and fruit. We spent the rest of the day pigging out and listening to him play the guitar and sing pearl jam and johnny cash songs before he let us all off early with pay for the rest of our shift.

Fucking asshole. Hope he dies.

There were two shifts I've worked at the pizza joint where I had an absolute blast. The people I worked with that night were hilarious. The orders kept coming but it was quite alright. Then the manager and I made a delicious pizza and we all ate up and we were fat and happy.

Then he walked out for being physically threatened with an ass kicking and having nearby objects thrown at him for being too hung over a few mornings later and passing out on the couch before the store opened.

I miss that guy.

My boss gives me free tickets to movie screenings and buys me ice cream on my shift. We also sell each other comics and toys at outrageous discounts when no one else is around. So I can't really complain... but I have experienced terrible bosses in the restaurant biz as well, so I know where you're coming from!

My asshole boss' urban pacification unit totally failed and Mr. Kenny got killed, so I stepped in and presented my robocop unit. He was so pissed he hired Red Foreman to shoot me in the legs and grenade my place with me in it! What a jerk!

well, I AM a boss, and my employees are begging me not to leave for St. Louis... that being said, when they are fucking up, I let them know.

So the question is, why do none of the managers like you? Do you burn pizzas regularly? Basically, if you ARE fucking up his business, he's being pretty good about giving you a chance to get your shit together.

I'm not particularly angry with him, that's not what I'm saying, but yeah it prolly sounds that way. My problem is being yelled at for something I can't fix anyway. I could fix it in the future, yes, but not in the past.

There are two managers, one doesn't like me because he hates people in general and on a personal and professional level we just do not get along. And while this manager, who is the owner, has a tendency to get extremely pissed off at even slight mistakes, he's apparently not used to people telling him he's coming off too harsh. Which I have no problem doing in the most constructive way I know how.

I was working at a McD's for about 4 months.... one of the bosses there liked to roll out the garbage disposal and roll it over the concrete plate that sets off the Drive thru radio unit.... ran me a fucked up order and basically aggrivated me to the point where I screamed at him, threatened to quit, then did so when he called me on it.... turns out a month later he got fired for that crap... hehehe... Justice is sweet.. biggrin

My boss yelled at me the other day because I asked him for the schedule he'd promised me all week. Apparently wanting to know when I was supposed to work so I could show up on time means I don't want my job. Fucking weird.

...I actually love my boss... well the boss way above me... my direct boss is someone I trained... very humbling... my bad for moving away for practically a year and letting her take the job that I am prefect for frown

...grumble... grumble... grumble... evidentially a GED is equivalent to a BA... ok... I guess I am not going out of this thread with as much positive feelings as I came in with...

My old boss is one of my best friends. But she left recently.. and a new boss took over. I pretty much dislike her to put it nicely.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Too bad she doesn't know that the DM doesn't like her, she's only there temporarily, and that the DM has personally told me that he wants me to have the store in another 5 to 6 months when i'm ready. biggrin

So dude, your idea of a good employee is one who tells the boss to get over them fucking up and one that ignores the manager being a passed out drunk.

As far as I can tell the only thing your boss has done that is dumb is not kicking your ass to the curb yet.

I once had a boss who fired me for calling out sick too much and teaching other employees to say rude and innapropriate things like "professional work means professional pay."

To even the playing field a bit, he got himself fired about a month later for protecting an employee guilty of continually sexually harassing female employees. Highly respectable of him.

My current boss has bbq's at work regularly. Good guy in many ways. I still call out sick. My time is worth no less than $10 per hour. Good as he is, a boss who doesn't pay a living wage won't get the fullness of what I am capable of giving.

Why don't you just go get a higher paying job, rather than calling in sick? That way, you can bless someone with the "fullness" of your giving, and your old boss can hire somebody who will, when they take a job, actually come into work.

i absolutely adored my last boss. he's really tough and strict, but it's almost like tough love. you play by his rules and you'll do great. for a store in the mall that can easily get trashed by just a small group of kids within minutes, he manages to keep it perfect. i really learned a lot from him and when i left the company the DM practically begged me not to go.

my current job is much more laid-back, but my boss is a dick. well, he's more of a douche. a lazy, self-absorbed douche. who promised to promote me to assistant manager over a month ago. said all i had to do was fill out some paperwork and it was pretty much set. he hasn't mentioned it in a while, and just hired a friend of his. i have the sneaking suspicion he wants Mr. Friend (who is a good guy and is learning things quickly) to be his assistant manager. so i don't start a mutiny, probably. i'm going to have to bring it up with him soon. i was promised that promotion and i have done enough waiting. this is probably a really big deal.

so, yeah, basically my boss will go on break (we get an hour) and end up being gone between an hour and a half and two hours. when he gets back there's not much of his shift left so chances are he'll be doing nothing but talking on his phone to bandmates or roommates or whatever (often locking himself in the bathroom to do so, thus putting us out of a bathroom till he's done). he hits on every girl that comes in the store, even if she's married or has a guy with her. he burps as loud as he can and always asks "did you guys hear that?" he's not very good-looking (maybe if he showered more often his acne would clear up, it's horrible) but has such a complex about it that he constantly talks about how hot he is. his complex also makes him seek out things he doesn't like about each of his employees (one guy was dating a girl he didn't get along with, i'm too "negative"...).

sorry. he's just really getting to all of us. we spent a week without him recently when he was mastering his album and it was such a nice, peaceful week. we got everything done just fine and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
