If you really love coffee you drink it black with no sugar. (Maybe a very small amount of cream is acceptable.) And you should never drink it out of anything but a real cup (ceramic or glass, etc.)--not paper or styrofoam. And preferably very, very early in the morning. And never on the go.

who the hell in new york drinks coffee with cream.

You have coffee with milk in new york unless you are a tourist.

In Philly, you let other people tell you how you should drink your coffee. whatever

In south Philly I ordered a coffee and there was marinara in it.
Fuckin MAR-I-NARA!

I'm surprised they didn't ask you if you wanted bacon in your coffee and if you wanted them to smother it with cheese! They put that shit on everything around here......yuk

One day Starbucks will rule the world. But don't let that scare you. Let that free you.

I would stipulate that Starbucks coffee tastes like what I can only imagine used motor oil tastes like. Not to mention for the cost of a cup of Starbucks I can get several from 7-Eleven or Dunkin' Donuts which won't make me want to vomit.

Price of a 16oz coffee at Starbucks in Chicago: $1.87
Price of a 16oz coffee at Dunkin Donuts in Chicago: $1.86

Price of 16oz coffee at my shop in Highlands Ranch, Colorado: $1.73

1.88 at mine, here in the springs. and its damn good!

I never understood the whole "Starbucks is evil" thing...it's no more evil then any type of chain store. If you don't wanna pay what they charge, don't go there.

If I just want coffee, I go to dunkin donuts...if I want Kona coffee I go to wawa (even though it's only a blend frown )...if I want to order something loaded with cafine with a hyphenated name that I feel silly saying, then I go to starbucks (which is a lot of the time).

My only gripe is when I'm stuck waiting in line because the person in front of me gets to the counter and doesn't know what they want. Do not get in line until you've figured out what you want to drink!

Damn...now I want coffee.

Fuck yes!
As a Tim Horton's employee for almost 10 years now... I totally agree.
Since when is the smallest size a "Tall"?
And if you frequent an establishment enough... please, for the love of GOD, stop asking for shit you KNOW we don't have anymore.
And no... we're not all the same, so shut up.
Also, You got your coffee, right? It's in a cup? You got what you asked for? Then you've already won... haven't you?
And if you didn't win on your Roll Up the Rim... deal with it. I don't CARE if you've bought one for the past three weeks, every single day, three times a day... If you expect to win from an addiction... maybe you should take up smoking, if you don't already, and hope that eventually, you'll find the GOLDEN FILTER inside your package!

The smallest size is short, although I severely doubt anyone would go to starbucks for espresso.

It's much harder to hide mediocre coffee without six pints of milk and a sachet of pumpkin syrup.

First off, Starbucks did not invent coffee, so stop using their trite little lingo. In fact, I'm not sure what they serve is even coffee. Tall, Grande, and Vente [sic] mean basically the same thing. Stop coming into independent coffeeshops like mine and using those words. We have small (12 oz.), medium (16 oz.) and large (20 oz.) like the rest of the world. Also, please stop saying 'frappacino' [sic] and 'caramel macchiatto' [sic]. Those are really called latte/mocha smoothies and caramel lattes.

Also, it's not 'expresso,' it's 'espresso.'

thank you. and please tip.

I roast and grind my own beans. Coffee shops, for me, are great for socializing and reading and being sort-of-fun-to-play-on-the-guitar-only-amped-way-up Chili Peppers songs.

I'm sure I said this here long ago, but I still prefer small independent shops. Sadly, they are severely lacking in these parts.

Proper etiquette mandates tipping your barista.

And PLEASE don't forget to stand her/him back up again after tipping s/him so he/she can serve the next patron.

Umm . . . has Starbucks purloined the word "Brother?"

Because it's been in use socially as a friendly term since, at the very latest, the Great Depression, and, although it seems like they've been infesting the world for aeons, I don't think they've been around QUITE that long.confused
