TSA = Transportation Security Administration

So yeah, I realize it would probably be a shitty job, but the pay, benefits, and hours are probably a lot better than I'm getting now, so I'm just wondering if anyone else has done it? I applied for a screener position, and I'm supposed to take their test next week. I'm just wondering if it's a tolerable sort of hell or whether I'll want to suck lead through a 12 gauge after a week.

The fact that you are keeping terrorists off the planes might be a nice motivator.

Actually, I'd feel more like I was giving non-terrorists the comforting illusion that I was keeping terrorists off a plane, which is actually demoralizing.

Neither have I. These are my observations of most government jobs.

Pros: Really good benefits and very stable.

Cons: unimaginative repetitive tasking and a bureaucratic conundrum.

That's not specific to the TSA, but I think it applies.

The only way I can see this being a positive experience is if you catalouge how laughable the organization is, then collect your work experiences into a zany comedy send up in the spirit of clerks and waiting.

Otherwise, It's kind of like working for the Devil, but without the fringe benefits.

I used to be a screener with TSA, but I quit when they started making us use the backs of our hands during pat-downs.
