Ugh, I've lost count of how many simile/metaphor offenses I've commited -- mostly while on the phone at work. I've admittedly overused "like ______ on crack" and anything relating to roadmaps and juggling. After I finish this post, I'm gonna go out in the back yard and kick my own ass! blackeyed

"Like _____ on _____"

example:

"Like flies on shit."

"Like white on rice."

"Like Judas Priest on acid."

"Like Ann Coulter on crack."

perhaps not a total ban, but maybe they should be mixed up for variety

example:

"Like shit on rice."

"Like white on Ann Coulter."

"Like acid on crack."

"Like Judas Priest on, um, Judas Priest."

These are similes, not metaphors.

Oh, damn. How'd I miss that?

Neither a metaphor or simile, but if I hear one more person say "taking *x* to the next level" I'm gonna have to STRANGLE A FUCKIN MONKEY!!

obviously, I feel strongly about this.

And just for the record, tornadoes DO sound like a freight train.
