I cannot speak to the glory of Sephora, but the empty bottles and black boxes littered around my home speak to the fascination that many have with it. Ok, Ill admit, the cinnamon body scrub is the shit, but I dont have a problem with it...Really...I dont...
JC Penney, sensing the power emanating from Sephora will add a store within a store to bolster their lagging sales and add a beauty department to the chains stores.
Additionally, Sephora will sell its beauty, body, and fragrance products for JC Penney's Internet customers with a direct link between the two company's websites.
The department store will feature a Sephora store in the center of its retail space that will showcase the signature Sephora look in terms of layout and theme. The in-store store will even come complete with Sephora-trained staffers to tend to customer's beauty needs.
Sephoras store within a store will be in every JC Penney Store in 2007 for those that dont have access to their website or their stores. Not that I care...seriously...what?!?
I am a Sephora employee, and I'm surprised how quickly word got around!
To the best of my knowlege, we will only be going into the new "free-standing" JC Penny stores that are scheduled for construction. I'm not sure which company approached who, but this is to fill the void that Penny's created when they pulled all cosmetics out of their stores a while ago.
All employees will be of JC Penny, but they will still recieve the gold standard training by attending Science of Sephora. In theory, they should be giving the same customer service that we, at least at my store, are so proud of. I just hope that they don't become as jaded as makeup counter employees often do.
Sephora and JC Penny's? Ugh. An unlikely combination. I associate Sephora with delicious smelling, artfully packaged, high end, addictive cosmetics, and JC Penny's with sensible shoes and flammable clothes.
