Adam Harvey is the subject of "From Spam to Porn to Art," a profile of the 24-year-old Web designer who turns porn spam into art. "It's kind of like the idea of taking shit and turning it to gold," he explains. On May 4 at Stain Bar in Brooklyn, an exhibit of Harvey's pixel porn will go on display. The show, "SAVE AS," will include a piece called "Lips of Bukkake," and the promotional materials declare: "You will get laid from this show." It took Harvey a year to create the script that converts spam email subject headers into the basis for his pornographic images; the final image is made up entirely of text. Other artists who have left a mark manipulating pornography include Thomas Ruff, who manipulated porn images he downloaded from the Web, and Laura Carton, who took the porn stars out of her porn.

Researching porn?

Thanks to SG, I look at naked girls with tattoos on Monday. Naked girls with piercings on Tuesday. Naked girls lacking body mods on Wednesday, and all sorts of combinations of the three on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
