That's actually rather disturbing news. If not properly diagnosed, a person with autism can put themselves into extremely dangerous situations that would not be dangerous for anyone else. I know a guy with autism who wanted to be a pilot. He said he was very good, actually. What concerns him in retrospect (he went undiagnosed until he was 30, leaving me to wonder how he's not homeless), he said, is that during emergencies, he experiences stimulus overload and literally freezes. He was also in the marines, figuring that he'd like being told what to do clearly and directly. And he did, but had he not injured himself during training, there would have been problems.
Point being that a lot of people with autism don't really know what they need without being diagnosed and receiving support. I don't think there are any of those oh-so-evil drugs involved, but rather guidance to help cope with a world that doesn't understand them.
Stuff like this makes me so sad, its so much worse when its people that make their kids suffer through stuff for their beliefs.
Ive had to watch a person die because they refused to recieve blood. something that is so simple and easy to do and still they would rather die then recieve the blood. Its just something I dont understand.
