While flying from New York to Los Angeles recently, Sharon Stone sat in first-class while her 9-month old son Laird and his nanny were relegated to the back of the plane in coach. Says Stone's rep:

"First class was sold out. She tried to get them seats in first class but couldn't, and she didn't want them on a separate plane."

Britney Spears might suggest she carry the child on her lap for the flight and perhaps even for the drive home.

first class was sold out according to what's posted...in other words, apparently she could only get coach tickets in addition to her already purchased first class ticket.

Wow. Is making your kid ride coach considered child abuse?

I'm no huge fan, no self-appointed defender of Sharon Stone, but I'm curious about how much animosity her recent reappearance on the celeb scene has provoked.

After spending a recent afternoon with friends and their kids, I can see why someone who could afford it would stick them and their nanny in the back of the plane.

It also reminded my wife and me why we don't have any.

The terrible lameness of giving a shit what celebrities do aside, if I had a nanny and the money to fly first class I'd do the same damn thing.

How is it different to leave the nanny and the kid @ home for a weekend while I go do hollywood star things, than putting the bairn in coach for two hours.

Shit, putting a baby in first class is a terrible waste of money. The nanny too..back to the servants quarters with you, wet nurse!

This article sounded like childless 20 year olds giving parenting advice. It's remarkable how quickly the perfect parent people would be falls down in the face of real live children.
