Hmmm...well, I don't know. the original wasn't anythin remarkable except for the family. i think it would take more effort to screw up the movie.

story: kids stop at creepy house gets chased by chainsaw weilded psycho, kills kids, girl gets caught, girl gets away (stupid happy ending) we never see girl again.
there was not much to the movie to begin with. creepy yes genuis no.

the remake looks better than the original if you ask me and unless the actors don't know how to act i can't see how they can make it worse.
the camera work wasn't anything remarkable either the original had home movie-ish look.

i guess the new hollywood polished look might turn people off.
