I would think the term "counter culture" is a pun about the places Dante and Randal work in, rather than the opposite of popular culture; especially coming from Kevin Smith.

AMEN! I was kinda put off a few months ago when I saw a trailer. I wasn't expecting it to be in color. But it's Kevin Smith, so I'll see it and probably love it! But the color is going to take getting used to.
