No, it's not a veiled threat, I just think it's childish and petty to bitch about the work of a fellow member of the SG team, and it's hard enough to keep some semblance of civility on the boards without people who work for the site getting into it. Please, drop it.

[Edited on Mar 29, 2006 by bean]

when was i not civil?

how is it childish or petty to wonder why a conversation between two hosts of the view is any kind of news, celebrity or not? Will celebrity news also bring up when letterman makes fun of paul schaeffer being bald?

If he does it in a way that's unusually harsh and bitter and Paul walks off the set because of it, sure, why not?

Here's what s5 said about the new Celeb section:

s5 said here:
Celeb (aka Celeb Worship) is the dark, seedy gossip side of the tracks. Where we point and laugh at the stage behind the stage. This is an outgrowth of everyone's favorite group on SG, Celeb Worship. You know you read it. Don't front like you're above it.

Note the word "gossip."

Beyond that, the standard policy of the newswire is that editors can publish anything that they find noteworthy. If a newswire editor thinks it's interesting, it's probably going to be interesting to a good amount of the readers here. If it's not interesting to you, nobody cares. Just don't read it.

We expect members to be civil toward each other on the boards. Celebrities, due to the nature of their existence, are in a different class, and while it may appear somewhat unseemly to some to call attention to the slings and arrows of their missteps, that's part and parcel of being a celebrity.

Unless they're a known member of SG....(see ANY Courtney Love thread for examples)

Joy Behar and Star Jones are seedy?

THen i suppose it is possible to say that if it is uninteresting to me then it's probably uninteresting to a good amount of people.

I honestly can't understand how we are friends. Do you make those kind of pork gravy comments behind my back when I'm sick or feeling not so hot?

My point is that I don't go into stories about people I don't care about and then say "I don't care!"

Edit: If my comment didn't bother you, why would you run immediately to my journal to re-post this comment?

to make sure you saw, i wasnt sure if you would check the boards so soon. i was wrong

how was i supposed to know what the story was about from the headline. honestly i didnt know The View was referring to the daytime show. i thought it said something "view catfight" i like to see women get physical with one another. maybe it was about lindsay lohan getting physical with an enemy of hers or something.

I don't think SG needed it's own Joan and Melissa Rivers set and the staff can delude themselves into thinking people just won't comment on threads if they don't agree with them all they want. That will never happen. I have never bought into the shallow cop out of, "well they are a celebrity so we can make fun of their weight, complextion, celulite(sp?), and ailments at our leisure.

What about all of the paying SG members that identify with a particular celebrity for a particular reason? Personally, I know an SG member in my very state who had gastric by-pass surgery and lost tons of weight. She may want surgery to tighten a few things up after such an ordeal. What if she reads a thread that suggests a wide angle lens is needed to capture such people...then you open the thread and it is suggested a "gravy transfusion" saved someone going through similair ordeals?

THEN, to top it all off, staff not only promotes and rewards such posts but says to just keep your mouth shut if you disagree with that kind of shallow bullshit?

BULL. SHIT.

Big fucking pile of SHIT.

Shame on you SG.

Hillarious that someone so consistently nasty and insulting to other members can complain about "mean" articles that he doesn't have to click on or read. Your hypocrisy is so tired.

haha...hilarious you can't see the difference.

I'm mean and nasty...how? I tell people they are ugly? I tell people they are fat?

Feel free to point it out when I do. I'll start pointing out your sharp name calling posts when I see them as well. We'll make a little game of it.

This is all I have left to say: You know you're rude and insulting to people on this site (maybe not calling them fat). Don't act like you aren't. I may have said some rude things as well, but I'm not the one wagging my finger at others for doing the same. You've already been zotted, so if SG is so "Shameful" you should put your money where your mouth is and leave. Stop acting like this has nothing to do with your personal issues regarding the writers of these articles. You're being a hypocrite of the worst kind, supporting what you find shameful.
